Well, I have a new job starting March 3rd in Anyang in Seoul. As of now they don't have an apartment for me. I was told on Saturday, that agents are not working this week. I just wonder, will 2 weeks be enough time for the school to find me an apartment? I was told that 2 weeks is enough time. I still have to get a mover! Was also told that movers here only need 3 days notice. Seems to me that is cutting it real close.

2 weeks is plenty of time to find an apartment......................................................
.......................................................................................................if you don't give a royal rat's butt what condition it's in, how much it is, where it is, or you don't need to worry about furnishing it.

I'd be worried, very worried.

Seems there could be another problem here. Unless the metropolis has swallowed southern Gyeonggi Province in the past few hours (I've been out of the house) Anyang isn't in the capital.

O.K., Should have said Anyang is in the Seoul area. ANyway, its close enough.
Just concerned about the apartment.
By the way, I have furniture, and the school is paying for the mover. So furnishing is not a problem. They just will have to buy a washing machine and a refrigerator, and that they will do.

I really don't think 2 weeks is too short a time to find an apartment. I'd say you only need a day to find one really Razz Korea does things VERY quickly where money is concerned. You can find an apartment that you like, sign the contract right away and move in the very same afternoon - we've done that before!!!

If you go out hunting and dedicate a solid 3 days to viewing places from realtors, you can find one.

But I do mean a SOLID 3 days!

The new contract with the school is signed. Just waiting for an apaerment before I get a mover. (of corse)

Packing is horrid. I have too much stuff.

Relax. They'll do it. It's a huge holiday right now. Your place is not their first priority. They'll do it next week.

WHAT!!!! The movers PACK??? How is that possible.dishes, pots, small oven, microwave, computor, breakables and general stuff????
I am a total pack rat and I have tons of things. And I am sure 1/2 of them should be thrown in the trash, but I have wrapped dishes and breakables in clothes.
I dont knwo what I am throwing out, but I am sure one I get to the new place things will get tossed.
How on earth can a mover pack???

Oh but they do! We've moved 4 times and each time they packed for us... No one can be a bigger pack rat than I am. We have 4 bedrooms and each one is filled with stuff... now that we have a baby, we have even more stuff... It normally takes them about 5 hours to pack everything and they are speedy! Then they move the stuff and when they get to the new flat, they unpack for you too!

It's true...that's what is great about Korea...you really don't have to make a physical effort as far as packing goes. Where are you currently? I actually live in Anyang and my lease ends on February 25th...but I'll probably move out before then. I don't know if my landlord has a new tenant lined up but I can ask if you are interested. I don't know where you are working but I really like my location...I'm close to downtown Anyang (or 1st street) and about a 10 minute walk from Anyang Station. My place is pretty decent-sized (about 17 pyoung) and 24 hour supermarkets and a great video store around the corner from my place. I'm really sad about leaving but I'm going to join my fiance down in Cheongju and am not planning to stay another year.
Anyway, if you're interested PM me. Don't know what your school's budget is but I spent 10 million key money and paid about 300,000 won a month. Of course the more key money your school provides, I doubt you'll pay rent.

Good luck with the hunt Very Happy

I haven't the faintest idea where im going, but the school is Bison 3 dong, Dongan-gu, anyang.
All I know is I took a cab from Anyang station and it was 2,800.
New school owner said ther other teachers live in the bldgs across the street from the school, and that is where she will find me a place.
Thank you so much for your offer, but it would be nice for me to be across the street!

And about the movers packing, I rather pack and them just get the stuff and dump it. I just have lots of boxes already, not yet finished, and bed, plastic drawers, 3 of them, and microwave, small oven, 2 bookshelves, and onesmaill hutch type of thing.

They don't just get the stuff and dump it. They bring these plasticky boxes and bubble wrap and they make sure everything is well wrapped before they put in the boxes. I don't think we have anything broken, ever? If there are breakable things, we just take them ourselves.. but kitchen dishes etc, they pack really well for you. The contract stipulates that there will on breakage (or something like that).

Really? Well, that is a great thing to know. But....I have most of the packing done already. Just wish I had known that.\Now I will have to find a mover to move me from Gangneung to Anyang. School is paying for it tho. But as I said I dont have an apartment yet. But as you and other people have said that should not be a problem.
About all this stuff I have, its just hard for me to decide what to take and wht to dump. I think it will be easier when I am in the enw placve to see what I want to keep, cause putting things away fresh is different I think then packing.
I am very excited, and looking foward to a new place, just this limbo is killing me.
And I wish I knew before hand about hte packing.
I just want the movers to come in and take the stuff out quick and to be on my way. Its a far move, almost 3 hours, and the less time they have to spend here the better.
I just wonder how these moving companies make any money.
