I need to get a couple of pairs of dress pants and some shirts for work...has anybody ever had anything made at a tailor in Itaewon or elsewhere in Seoul? Any recommendations or advice?
Thanks in advance,

You might like the work done by the highly-regarded Mr. Han of Hahn's Tailor Shop.
Mr. Han's shop is right around the corner from the McDonald's Restaurant: As you walk out of McD's, walk to your left until you arrive a few shops around the corner of I'taewon Street - Hahn's Tailor Shop is on the left. |

I haven't had anything done at Itaewon, but I did at E-dae: there is a street full of wedding shops. I got my husband's dress suits and shirt made there. Also my reception dress. Very well done. |

Okay here's the thing about tailor shops in In Itaewon.
They're just about all sub-contractors for about 3 or so clothing 'factories'.
The ones that don't do this are the ones that you can actually see the workshop and sewing tables etc. in the back. T
hey're the better ones, but they're more expensive.
I like Korea Custom Tailor- you'll see from the pictures on his wall that he's been the tailor for many ambassadors. The price reflects this, but so does the quality.
Cheaper yet still pretty good is Dynasty Tailor (a 'sub-contractor' tailor)
34-77 Itaewon-dong

Go to Song Tan for clothes
The tailors are friendlier the prices lower and the quality excellent.
another tip for dealing with tailors in Itaewon or Songtan is haggle. You can always get 10% off of thier opening offer, 20% off usually and 30% off if they like you. |

Do they speak English? Could you post their phone number?
I want to coordinate the service with a trip up to Seoul. |

song tan is an area near the Osan military base. So they dont have a phone number. It is more of a kinder gentler Itaewon about an hour and a bit South of Seoul.
The store clerks in Songtan speak excellent English for the most part. |

It depends on the quality of the cloth, of course. But say a lightweight, cool, material that just throws into the washer and a pair of pants made out of that. Tailors got the tape out and measuring one's hips and legs around. Just as an estimate, what do you think a pair of custom made pants of that material, at a Songtan tailor, would cost, medium haggled. |

Wow, Songtan sounds like the place to go but, as P.S. wrote, J.J. Alpha is good, too: I bought a few shirts from J.J., and a well known Canadian guy who a is level-headed sort from T.O. can not say enough good things about J.J. Alpha Tailors, too. |

Had a couple of suits made and some Thai silk rendered into shirts at 'Steve Tailor', next to McDonald's in Itaewon. His English is impeccable, and the quality of the product is excellent. (No, I'm receiving no discount for this endorsement.) |

I got an excellent 3-peice suit at Hollywood tailor made at the end of February just in time for the new semester. The tailor speaks impeccable English an did a bang-up job.
