Nooo! How could I forget the time.
I just made plans to have dinner with a friend coming in from out of town.
For 7 o'clock. And he doesn't like soccer. |

South Korea 2-0 Kuwait
Korea looked a class above Kuwait without ever looking comfortable. Lee Dong-guk in the first half and Lee Young-pyo about ten minutes from time scored the goals but they weren't impressive.
Japan 2-1 North Korea
Japan won with a goal in injury time, but I think the North Koreans made it bloody hard for them throughout the game. NK scored a cracking goal too. They might sneak a wee surprise up in Pyeongyang... |

Japan got lucky tonight.
They controlled the first half but were dominated in the second. Once the N. Koreans equalized though, they did what I hate the most in soccer. They PLAYED FOR THE DRAW. I love it when teams get burned for this.
Good effort. Bad coaching. |

Japan will definitely be the favourites, but North Korea (with the exception of their goalkeeper who looked pretty weak) are no slouches. I don't think they'll be good enough to knock either Japan or Iran out of the automatic spots but they have a decent chance of snatching the playoff spot from Bahrain... |

Pretty weak? The guy was horrible! He fumbled countless balls, bobbled balls that he played with his feet, and punched just about every ball that came at him instead of holding on to it! Not to mention, a keeper of a higher calibre may very well have stopped that free kick (and probably wouldn't have given up that second goal!). The free kick was very well placed, but didn't have a lot on it.
After recovering from the shock of being down a goal after 4 minutes, I thought North Korea regrouped quite well. They still have a chance to qualify, and could manage 3 points against Japan in the return leg. But they've gotta get rid of that keeper! He's gonna be their downfall...
