Well, a touchy issue for sure. What with the RIAA going uber-litigious in the US and the Canadian courts non-compliance, a real copyright war is brewing.
Anyways, I freely admit to using P2P networks, most recently I have been using Overnet.
I suppose my argument would be that many movies, CDs and games don't make it over here, and I can't take a plane ride home just to stock up.
I am guilty? Yes. Without conditions? No, I think/hope not.
I am all for everyone getting their due returns on their work, and in the past, or now if the chance presents itself, I have/will procure these goods over the counter. Although in Korea, even doing this doesn't guarantee a legitimate transaction! Copied everything is normal.
What about all of you?
~Do you use P2P?
~Any good Korean networks you know of?
~How do you feel about the whole issue, what with being so far from the source and often being unable to purchase some of these commodities?

Just wondering because these networs are a blessing to me in many ways in Korea, but at the cost of my concience.

I think if people use them to rip off whole albums instead of buying them then it's out of order.

Not to sound holier than thou but I only use them to check out a few songs by bands I don't know, with a view to buying the CD if I get the chance, or to get full albums that I've already bought but left back in England/have been stolen by friends.

Soulseeks my fave for music.

I use Bittorrent and the gnutella network, but my other favorite form of file-sharing is copying DVDs from friends who own them or rent them. Laughing

I download (steal) everything and anything. I have so many movies, music and TV programs on my computer that I could face some serious jail time/ fines should I be caught. My conscience is absolutely clean.

My guess is that musicians (and music execs) who have never taped a song off the radio and computer programmers (software company execs) that have never copied or hacked software are a very rare breed. And, what do they do when they know they might miss their favorite movie or TV show? Like everyone else, they program the VCR or the Tivo. When you think about it, it's really ironic that they sue little old ladies and 12 year-old girls for doing what they've done themselves. If I ever go to hell, I bet I'll meet lots of movie and music executives.
