Well, we all suspected it was coming - and we were right. The verification program that began as a voluntary one will become a requirement in mid-2005. In order to get most updates and free add-ons, users will have to prove their copies of Windows aren't pirated, via the Windows Genuine Advantage initiative (essential security patches will still be available, since unpatched systems pose a danger to other Internet users). The program is also being expanded from English language software to include twenty more languages.

Right....and the irony is that half of those "patches" will be exploits for non-updated versions of Windows. Laughing
