Hey all!

This website is fantastic! I wish I found it a long time ago when I was getting certified and doing my job search. I feel I would have been a lot better informed about my choice of location/school. But, my school set me up with my recruiter, so I feel pretty secure. Although I am working at an SLP school...and I'm reading a lot of bad things... Confused They're not ALL bad, right? Right?

I leave for Incheon in one week. I have been excited to do this for two years, but now that it's so close I'm kind of freaking out a bit. Are there a lot of foreigners living in Incheon? Is there any kind of regular pub or anything? Sorry if I'm being redundant...I've been reading a ton of posts but there are so many threads to go through! Links are appreciated just as much as advice Smile I would love to get in touch with other foreign teachers in the area.

Also, what is it like in Incheon? I can't find much info in the FAQ section. I originally picked it because it's close to Seoul and on the coast; but I'm reading a lot of posts that complain about the pollution and slummy areas.
I'm in Bupyeong-gu...anyone else near there? I think it's one of the more populated areas.

Anyways...thanks for any advice you may have. I'm looking forward to posting more and maybe meeting some of you. Take care!

Cheers!

Don't fret, you'll be just fine. I don't think there's one place in Korea that doesn't have a hof (pub like thing) and there's usually more then your fair share of non-Korean's hanging about in them.

I've heard the kids in Incheon are... delightful to teach. *cough*

The gathering place for foreigners in the greater Incheon area is a bar called Goose Goose in Bupyeong. Not quite as lively as in years past, but still the place to meet and greet if you live in Incheon.

The city of Incheon itself is kind of a hole; a dirty, grimy hole. But it's a good place to save money, as there're not a lot of distractions.
