for what it's worth, why do so many threads get hijacked by people who just can't help putting in their pointless two cents? if you've got nothing to add top the topic, move on.....it's not that hard....

Because people are opinionated and some of us have to get stuff off our chest right away or we suffocate (not me specifically, but you know what I mean..)... Razz

i said k-gal coz it's quicker to type...

You're right, typing "Korean girlfriend" is such a hassle, much like using capital letters. Also, next time you have to write "Japanese," save yourself a bit of time and write "Jap." Certainly no one would find that offensive, either.

hmmmm mr. sparkles. i-guy has told you to settle down in another thread so i guess i don't really need to second it.

i wanted some info. on the process of getting married and the paperwork needed and you've launched your agenda on semantics. life mustn't be too dreamy for you at the the moment.

on other threads recently read i've seen k-pop, k-culture, k-league, k-movies and k-food. you've got your work cut out mate.

ummmm.....sage monkey, firstly, i didn't ostracise anyone. check the meaning of the word if you're going to use it in the active form. and secondly, i highly doubt that you speak for everyone on this board married to a korean.

i can't see them all being as offended as you by me using the term k-gal merely for convenience on an internet bulletin board. it wasn't used in a derogatory way. it wasn't used sarcastically. it wasn't used negatively. it was used for convenience.

i got the advice and help i was after so i guess others weren't so offended.

thanks for the good wishes.

by the way, as i'm going over to japan to work, and live with my future wife, i thought i'd get some info. that's pertinent for us over on some jap. boards. incredibly, there seem to be no end of threads with references to j-girls and j-guys.

for consistency's sake i thought i'd let you and sparkles know....

OK, stop already! Good grief. My K-husband doesn't read this either (Wink coporal) but I am sure he won't get offended... It's just a way of expression and I think it would take a really cynical person to construe (or misconstrue) it to be something demeaning...

OK we have to make a distintion between racism and shorthand. Ever read a clasified ad? Space (or typing time) is saved by such things as SWF, DJF (Divorced Japanese Female - on a Japanese site) My wife is Korean and I think K-girl is cute, just as I would be happy for her to call me her C-boy. Tiberious, Jap is a racist term, the same way I understand Kimchi is soemtimes used as a racist term for for a Korean. I would perhaps be a bit unhappy with Kimchi-girl, but K-girl (for Korean) is cute.
