Well, I have almost reached this point...does time really fly after 6 months or what?

I have been told that it should, but any other opinions would be appreciated.

In my first contract, after the 6 month mark I relaxed a lot more and considered that the rest was all downhill. I enjoyed life and my work a lot more and found that I didn't want time to go faster, but it did. So I came back.

I would say the first few months dragged, then it picked up....and now that I am back from vacation...it seems to be dragging, and I am saying I hate the place a lot......I wish I was back in the hot weather of SE Asia again.

But only 6 more months to go! Woo hoo!

Congratulations. Did you know that, after six months, you can't be dismissed without one month's notice or, in lieu of that, one month's pay? Your boss must really like you!

It feels like last week I was writing "Man, I'm at the six month mark."

Now I'm finishing my 13th month and my contract in less than two weeks.

I have always found that the first 3 months fly by, learning a new area, finding out where stuff is. Then the 3-9 months drag a bit(especially in winter) the last 3 months seem to fly by.

I usually feel a major slump at the six month mark. I always wonder how I can survive another six months at a hagwon. Then a funny thing happens. I become very relaxed and laid back in the classroom. The children start trying to talk with me directly rather than use the book. By the six month mark I am involved in a relationship. That occupies my mind for the time being. Time flies quickly until the tenth month mark, when I start to visualize leaving. Things get boring for the next month or two. When I leave I even get sentimental and reconsider staying.

... I doesn't work, however, because there are so many new destination that I want to experience.

The first 6 month mark is make or break for most newbs, I reckon about 20% quit at this point. If you get past it, its all much easier, and all subsequent 6 month blocks fly by.

Six months? At that point I felt like anything I didn't have, but wanted, it was too late to buy. If I could go the first six months without it, then I could go the last six without it too. (Of course, that changed when I got a girlfriend who didn't like sleeping in front of a window without curtains)

Then a couple weeks ago I passed the 36 month mark...and to celebrate I signed on for a fourth year (Yes, I'm still at the same school).

Starting to feel like I'm here for good.

This is good to know.

Based on the first 6 months, I didn't know if I could do another year...but if this initial experience is par for the course, and it hasn't been that bad...I might just be able to do a 2nd year.

Thanks for your thoughts.
