At home, I had cable TV and cable Internet service through the same company (happened to be Comcast) and I got a major discount because I was subcribing to two services. Is there anything like that here? I live in Seoul.

Yes and no, but more on the no than the former.
Where do you live in Seoul?

I did that with the ABN company in Bundang. I suspect it's pretty commonplace in Seoul.

Here's a funny thing. If you get the cheap "I don't want cable TV" option from Thrunet, you will find that it has cable TV on it anyway. I discovered this by accident and every time during a support call, I mentioned it to the woman on the phone, she insisted that I did not have it. She wouldn't take yes for an answer so I gave in and shut up. I thought as they insisted I did not have it despite my admission that I did that the loss was theirs - whatever loss it is to them cos we hardly ever watch it.

A simple splitter and cable means that you can get both cable TV and Internet from the same wire.

Nice price!

13,000 for internet and 4,000 for 78 TV channels (that basic package most people get...no premium channels but a few English channels). 18,000 total each month. But I heard from my boss it was an offer. Don't know if it's still going. This was 18 months ago.

I was chuffed. I've lived in 4 different areas of Seoul/Gyeonggi-do and it was the best deal yet.

I gave up on the cable TV + Internet idea because I couldn't find any of these deals that people have posted about.

So ix-nay on cable TV, I'm just going for Internet. I made an appointment with Megapass to come connect me next week. It's going to be 44,000/month including box rental and tax, plus 30,000 for installation. This is for Megapass Lite. That's quite expensive IMO, but I found their phone number easily and they spoke English. It seemed like the easiest way, though I'm a bit upset about the price.

I guess there are different deals depending on where you live and when you sign up. (I live in Itaewon). How do I get in contact with these companies? What are their phone numbers? Do they speak English?
