Regardless of how a person leaves Korea, runs, finishes contract early or on time, what do you do with your ARC card? What happens if you don't hand it in?

You hand it in. If you don't you will just stand there until you do.

Not always.

Immigration forgot to impound my first ARC when I left on a visa run.

Still got it floating around in a drawer somewhere.

They'll only want it if you 're leaving the country for good. If you don't have it then, they'll charge you 100,000W

peppermint is right.
the immi officer at the airport will ask you if you plan on returning. if you answer yes,you must have a re-entry permit and therefore do not hand in the ARC.

if you answer no, then the immi officer will ask for your ARC.

Thanks for the answers. So since I won't be returning I will be handing it in at the Incheon airport. Unless they don't ask for it, they likely will though by the sounds of it. No need paying up the 100,000 if I can just hand it to them.

Thanks!

I left the country on Febaury 2 with my ARC in my pocket ready to hand it to whomever asked, but no one did, so I kept it. If I decide to return to Korea at some point, will this be a problem?
