first and foremost lets seperate the word teacher from the people who work at hogwans. They are not teachers they are, for the most part instructors and lecturers.

Teachers that work in public schools are paid quite well, have good benefits, lots of vacation time and do quite well. Most of the teachers at the school I work at make much much more than I do even taking into account the accomodations and airfare that I get

Koreans who work in hogwans usually get about 1.4 mil a month. I choose this figure as this is what I have been told and seen on thier payslips in two different hogwans over these last two years.

While most of the Koreans that I worked with in hogwans had English skills and were better all round instructors that far surpass the skills of their public school counterparts they are technically, not teachers.

At my school I get 1.9 while most of the Koreans get 1.2 except the friend of the boss, who is called the "academic advisor" but doesn't do much more than anyone else, gets (according to other Korean teachers) between 3 and 4.

Well honestly the teachers at my school make more than me. Add up Chusok and New Year's bonuses they make a good chunk more than me.

CLG I think they make more than we do. Most anyway.

However, I do get free housing and at my school almost same vacation. I teach alot more classes than they do but I don't have to do the mountains of paper work so it evens out.

I have a lot more freedom to say no to the "group" gatherings. But go often enough to be seen as a team player.

I am happy with my pay as I get alot of vacation and a decent place to live and I have the best students in KOREA! LOL. And to CLG ....My students are the most handsome also.
