If you like kids that's all the difference right there.
The university jobs you see advertised on Dave's are often not the good ones. The better jobs often just take referrals from present teachers or have no problem getting applications because people often come in to apply. I think my university is normal. I have friends working in at least 6 other universities and, with the exception of one, we compare well to each other.
You might have an argument with the company housing as it isn't all that good, but in my case my apartment is my own. Decided some years back that I wanted to have my accomodation separate from work. |

As I said. You might have a case with this issue.
I put 30,000,000 down and pay 100,000 a month. The compensation is a meagre 200,000 a month but as that covers more than my rent it does the trick. A good number of universities pay more than that but on the backdrop of the rest of the job it's a small thing. |

I was just curious about your situation, not trying to drive my point home:)
I get about a million won for the apartment which goes all to pay the rent. Its in my employer's name but I have the option of taking it over in mine any time. |

Yeah, I still got the 4-star outfit. Can't decide what to do with it, it's still in mint condition. The girl? That was Sugar. We got a little too friendly shortly after that, but I backed off and we haven't really been talking since then. I hear that she has had cosmetic eyelid surgery since then. I'd kinda like to see her, but it just gets out of control too quickly with her. Impersonating military officers drives em wild, I guess. |

Too much free time is the lamest thing I hear (and it comes up occasionally).
I'm almost never bored. I was bored once a couple of years ago and it was such a strange experience that it stands out. During this holiday I'm studying Korean full time. During the semester I study other academic things. I travel. I go to hapkido. I write. I read. I do mad-teacher creative things. I put more time in lesson planning and grading.
As a matter of fact, one of the things I'm fond of telling me students is that bored people are usually boring people. |

I did at my hagwon. THANK GOD I dont teach middle schoolers anymore. You are right about their attitude, the grade 6 kids that just graduated were developing attitudes too. But they are gone and Im happy. |

| Allright, allright. Whatever keeps you happy, man. Seriously, as Beav said, the good uni gigs aren't usually posted here. If you like teaching kids, it's a noble profession. Some of my best friends at home are high school teachers. I might end up as one myself one day. I wanted to work with my friends, too, that was a big part of why I went to a uni. |

I wonder if there is any connection about why DW joined the forums after he got his public school gig and his superduperfantastic apartment, but not in the past when he was toiling at the hogwans.
Maybe some 'Korean status' cultural emulation going on?  |

I have 550 of them and they are all great, with the exception of about 15 or 20. Best age group I have taught thus far. |
