Hi all, I will be visiting Seoul tomorrow from the third largest train station in Korea, and would like to either buy sausages for future consumption, or else have a plate of sausages for lunch.
I will be in the area around Technomart Gangbyeon subway station and Itaewon, but am willing to travel almost anywhere on the subway.
Please post before 23:00 hours Friday Feb 18th, or else I will miss my snags.
Cheers |

Gavin's Sausages
Haven't been there yet, but it's on my list of things to do.

I get my sausage fix via Carrefour. I think all of their outlets sell them. My local guy tells me they're from Germany. |

I have no idea how to get to Gavins, the web site instructions aren't very clear (or even exist, in English) and apparently in Korean they aren't that easy to follow either. Will look for a Carrefour, I guess, or else Namdemun? Do you mean the market area around the subway station of the same name?
Excuse my ignorance, I'm just a poor country boy here in Korea.
Thanks for the replies |

Gavin's map in English http://www.gavin.co.kr/map.htm Though I agree, it's a bit unclear. You can always try calling the # on the site though. |

I wouldn't want to discourage anyone from paying Gavin's a visit. However, depending on where you're coming from and your mode of transport, it can be a fair journey indeed (no subway up there). It's also much better on nights when Gavin is there, and he so often isn't. I'm a semi-regular customer, but aside from quick in & out purchases, I wouldn't go there except with a group of friends and when we know for certain Gavin will be there. (Tel: 02-396-0239)
For those who haven't been there, imagine if you will a very small factory located beneath a car park, with "pub & restaurant" being more or less the size of a tasting room. A crowd of 15 at one time would be pushing it, I think. Still, people have been known to make the trek in their chauffered Equuses and BMWs from as far away as Busan, Ulsan, Masan...
As for the sausages themselves, you should be able to buy them at Hyundai Department Store, Shinsegae, maybe Lotte... And they serve them at the major hotels, 3 Alley Pub (last time I looked), and elsewhere. |

Do you think he will smoke a piece of ham to make gammon for me if requested? |
