I know it won't be good once again but............

At least it is on a not half bad news program and may present a quater-balanced approach to the issue.

The problem will be when SBS starts drumming it on their 8 o'clock news(and SBS is the gutter of news reporting here) everyday.

It sounds like SBS and Fox News (U.S.) require the same journalistic integrity, or lack there of.

If the blurb on their website is any indication, don't get your hopes up too high.

The first paragraph says that they are going to explore the reality of foreign English teachers in Korea that the English Rectum scandal exposed.

It goes on to talk about stories of teachers who seduced high school girls, given marijuana to students, kept teaching even after rumors of having raped middle school girls, as well as illegal teachers who do privates and teach without degrees.

I got excited and thought there might be some balance in the last paragraph, which was titled <츮 Ǹ Ѵ>
("Thinking About the Racism Inside Us"), thinking that perhaps foreign teachers would be calling the show on its salacious trash. But no. The racism that they're talking about is that Koreans look down on Third World factory workers while giving a free pass to blue eyed foreigners because of Koreans' obsession with English education. This must be dealt with if Korea is to become a mature society. IMHO, this is a worthwhile point of discussion, but in the context of the smear campaign against us that precedes it I can't help but wonder what equal treatment might mean to them.

Oddly enough, I literally knew that this was coming. I watched the ˰ ʹ two weekends ago. I'm not a regular viewer, it was the first time I'd ever seen it and my girlfriend was there to explain the parts I couldn't understand (not a bad show to watch for an intermediate Korean speaker, actually, lots of closed captions). The show was about homosexual rape, and sex criminals who were luring young boys into their apartments with ads looking for tutors (all rapists and victims were Korean). Towards the end of the show, they said that any "victims" of foreign teachers could call their toll-free number to tell their stories.

It's all so fair and balanced I'm starting to miss A Current Affair.

Even still, it's like a trainwreck. I plan to tune in.

I keep thinking that this will go away and everyone will forget about it, when the korean media have to drag this back into the spotlight. Fortunately its on late on a saturday night. I imagine the viewership for this won't be too high.

It's airing in an hour... My fiancee has given me a quick synopsis of what's going to air, and apparently it's about some hagwon dude(s) who took advantage of high school girls, got fired, but then started working in another hagwon, only to do the same thing again.

Pretty disturbing...

UGHHHH!!!!!
