Hey Guys,
Just curious (b/c I would never actually dream of DOING such a thing)..
Is it a smart idea to download music/movies over a filesharing program in Korea, or will I get in trouble for it? Is the internet more or less policed then it is over here in the states?
Yes, I know downloading is wrong, so don't flame me with morality sermons..thanx.

Fact1: We live in Korea
Fact2: We have no access to quality Western Media
Fact3: We have AFKN (see Fact2)
Fact4: We need, as intelligent people, access to media
Programs like Bit Torrent are going to make some huge
changes to the way ALL media is distributed. People everywhere
will no longer be satisfied with watching shows when a
channel or network decide they will watch it. They can download
and watch it "advertising free", at any time, or place(with
personal media players). Right now the RIAA and MPAA are
the proverbial children with their fingers in the dyke. They
are protecting an obsolete system. But not for long. Eventually
they will see the light and make media available to anyone, anywhere
.....for a cost. If the cost is reasonable I, for one, would be
happy to pay it. Unfortunately, now, I don't have that option.
So, to answer your question: Go for it! We are the pioneers.

Speaking of...Does anyone have seasons 1-4 available in an organized format?
I actually want to BUY the originals but I don't think they will make it through the morality police at immigration here in the UAE.
(ironically enough even the most innocent webpage is blocked here as ALL internet access for the country goes through a proxy but you can run any of the peer to peer software and there seems to be no "blockage" (as it were)
Miss me grotto? |

If it makes you feel any better it is cold and wet here. Spring is around the corner but still a little ways off.
Hows the weather in UAE?
Morality police? What do they do? Check through every CD you bring with you and confiscate any copied ones? |

They actually take them and determine if the content will offend the sensibilities and morality of the country. If they are cleared you get them back if not....too bad.
The weather here is actually nice...it isn't warming up yet but they say...any day now... |

some torrent sites only have TV programmes that are not available comercially, so to avoid the wrath of the broadcaster for stealing their profits. once the broadcast becomes commercially available, the torrent is removed from the site. check out www.uknova.com
and downloading commercially available media (movies, music etc)? stock up in korea, fast internet + terrible tv = bearshare |
