Anyone likes to play CS? What's your favorite server? I usually play out at the ClanM0nger server, whenever it's responding. It's run by a couple of Americans.

I play CS....CS:Source, that is.

I refuse to play with a ping over 70, so that cuts them overseas servers out of the loop. Gotta play on those awful Korean servers. No teamwork, cheats, hacks....the very essence of CS. Rolling Eyes

I play source too. Yeah, some Korean players sure love those hacks. It's almost a waste of time to play on Korean servers. That's why I try to play on the server I mentioned whenever possible. They don't put up with players who use them.

I don't know the ip, but when you search for servers in steam for Asia, you can see Clan M0nger in the name field. It's one of the lowest pings you'll get if you are in Korea. They haven't been up much in the last week, so look again later if it isn't listed.

What exactly is CS: Source? I love playing CS when I can scrape a few hours together. I've been playing Condition Zero lately but there's not many servers for it and most of them only play one map continuously which gets a little boring after a while.

I tend to play on any server that doesn't say "clan" in it as clan members tend to all join the same team and win every round. That's pretty boring too.

CS:Source is the latest incarnation of the game with the Source engine, which powers Half-life 2. Same game, much better graphics, physics, etc... .

Smoothly? Perhaps, but with everything at low.

I was checking around for information about CS: Source and found that there are some people not happy with it. I'm wondering if you think it's that much better than CS to be worth $49.95.

It's a lot better. The physics give a new kind of strategy to the game, and the graphics certainly lend to realism.

Is it worth it? I don't know....but I do know that slowly, the old CS servers are moving to the Source version, and they can't play together.

It's only $50...I don't know...lots of fun to be had for that price.

If my system would run it, I wouldn't hesitate to buy it but I'll probably have to play from a PC Room...once I buy it, can I download it at whatever PC Room I happen to be at...in other words, download it multiple times with my username and password the way I can with regular Counterstrike?

Yes, in theory you could, but your account would probably be banned. Steam/Valve would look at the number of times you have installed it and some issue would come up. It would look like you are sharing your account or something.

Also, the Korean version is 100% Korean. Texts, menus, audio...all Korean.

This is certainly a drawback to Steam, but I'm sure they weren't considering people who play it in PC rooms...those who often change PC rooms and therefore need multiple installs.

Find a PC room you like and set it up there. Go there always.

What are your system specs mate? It doesn't have too heavy requirements. Even at 800x600, it would look better than CS:CZ.

I run it on my second computer, though it's not a total slouch, save the aging graphics card. Asus P4T533, 512MB RIMM3200 (RDRAM), P4 1.8 @ 2.4, GeForce 3 64MB...runs like butter @ 1024x768, most settings on low. Still looks ok too.

I would say that 512 MB is the minimum for RAM, a 1.8~2.0GHz CPU (Going Intel...AMD are faster for gaming) and the GF3 is the absolute lowest for graphics.

The Source engine is quite flexible....able to do DX7 tp DX9. This means that older hardware can run it with some hope.

Re-reading your post, you would buy it online? This would eliminate the Korean language problem, but not the Steam situation.

Yeah, I was thinking of buying it online. I usually go to the same PC room all the time anyway but it's just that I can't always get onto the same computer each time so with CS I usually have it on 2 or 3 systems. I've downloaded CS onto 4 systems so far and last week they ghosted the drives so I'm having to reinstall all over again. I think I'll go for it and see what happens.

My home system is old with a small HD...runs Starcraft and other games from that era and that's about it...tried CS in a 1 vs 1 game and it was really nasty.
