...So civilized in comparison to our own. Case in point: scroll down to the 'I love Japan' thread here, and then take a look at the flameless Japan forum. |

Korea attracts thugs, obviously. Either that, or the exp. of living here turns you into one. |

No, it's not as civilized on the J forum as it seems on the surface. Case in point there are several trolls, batgirl, lovechild and then you have the know it all posters like Glenski and some others who immediately question anyone's motives in wanting to go to Japan. The whole motive is to keep people out because there are not as many jobs. They fight over there a lot and are quite nasty but the mods are a lot more vigilant about deleting the dirt if you pay close attention.
That's the only difference.
I would say the Korea forum, the J forum, and Hong Kong are the nastiest ones on Dave's. (Hong Kong also nasty because of competition for work.)
And Korea is just nasty I guess because some have had bad experiences.

so you're saying it's nicer over there because the mods don't let as much racist crap fly? Very interesting... |

The Japan situation is far from rosey these days.
Just ask Kenny Kimchie. People are accepting massive pay cuts just to stay there.
He's on his way back to Korea. |

Japan forum, civil? Maybe the one on Dave's is, but that's because we're all engaged in petty infighting and name-calling over on www.bigdaikon.com (JETs) and www.letsjapan.org (language school workers).
I've been surfing over here on the Korean forums lately. This place is pretty damned civil compared to the flame fest on big daikon. Have a look. |

very interesting, seems like Japan is more like Korea than I first thought based on what I read there. Only difference is the Japanese smile at you while sticking that knife in your back |

Exactly, dude. That's why so many gaijin freaks can live here so long - you can live in your little La La Land and the locals will never say a thing to you.
Don't miss the staring in Korea, though. I went to the Philippines for Xmas and they were all staring and I was thinking "WHAT are you looking at?" So, I'd smile at them and they'd smile back - try that in Korea. |
