We get the occassional thing, like class plans. It's not a lot, but growing in frequency.

We are also required to make/appear in photos, etc., for learning materials.

Well, from the sounds of it, it doesn't seem that bad. I think I'm going to take it, in which case, I'll be in Incheon city on March 20th. As for the paperwork, it doesn't seem too bad. I mean, if you have time on your hands because you have no classes from 1:30-4:30, might as well do prep work and paperwork. Thanks for all the input.

Oh, one more question, when they say that I get 14 days vacation, is that just under three weeks (thinking in terms of business/school days) or is it two weeks (two-seven day weeks)?

I suspect its the same as my (epik) contract which also stipulates 2 weeks vacation, which in fact means 14 working days exclusive of weekends.

I used mine all at once & I'm just back from a 23-day break. We also get a 2-week paid leave of absence between contracts (that one just 10 working days plus weekends) if we sign on again, as well as return airfare home. Similar deal for you?

Best of luck in your new position.

Just got my teaching schedule for the year and sweeeeeeeeeeeeeet!

15 50 minute classes a week, all second grade and 4 teacher classes, however if it was anything like last year that will swifly be reduced to 2 classes. Had a nice drop in enrolment in my class as I'm known as a hard marker and failed a goodly %. The lowest got 1%, several 5%, a whole bunch in the 20's and 30's. Jerk around in my class and even if you're fluent I nail you in the assessments. Change my marking schedule to 40% participation, motivation I hope.

By the way I still get the vacation time, 15 weeks plus national hols and school camp etc. Not all schools have gone the way of the swine.

Gee, it sounds really impressive how positive you are about how difficult your classes are, and how many students you fail.... could it possibly be that the students don't learn much, or think you suck? Laughing

Those of us who know the ropes in Korea also know that being a "good" teacher by their standards rarely results in students wanting to avoid your class. And often, holding on to your job doesn't mean impressing them by failing a lot of students.

I'm willing to bet you might learn all of this just as the door hits your ass on the way out . Laughing

Well they re-hired me didn't they! Rolling Eyes And gave me a nice raise with a two year contract! The students choose their classes last December before I got re-contracted so they knew the numbers then. I got excellent student evaluations bar the muppets that failed. Bear in mind my class averages were still in 70's. Unlike some schools they encouraged me to fail students who weren't performing. They don't want students graduating and entering university to find that contrary to their 85% grade in English they don't know their ABC's!
