So i get off the plane in Seoul and freak out!
What are the immigration procedures and paperwork that needs to be done at the aiport with my E2 visa?
I have heard of an alien registration card. Do i need one? How do i get one? Do i need any cash or anything before i get out of the airport?
Just dont want any hassles when arriving after a long flight and in the middle of the night!
Any experiences or advice welcome! |

Fill in the immigration card on the plane, get off, line up for immigration, get stamped. Make sure the guy finds your E-2 visa otherwise you may just be stamped in as a tourist, get your bags, you're done.
The ARC can wait, as can health insurance etc.
Change some money at the airport, just enough to get you through the first few days, and then depending on where you are, change more later at a local bank. The rate outside the airport tends to be slightly better. |

Most new arrivals in Seoul decide to take the complementary massage at the airport before dealing with the hassles of immigration. Upon disembarkation, you will be greeted by a team of top handlers with years of experience dealing with stressed out, tired, travelling professionals like you. Their appearance might be disarming at first, but you will come to like the short silk skirt with the slit up the side look in time. You will be expertly rubbed down in a luxurious "processing room" by some of the junior, but still quite sexy, trainees, before you are "handed off" to people who know what you like and how you want it. If at anytime during your "decompression" experience, you begin to feel uncomfortable, plesae feel free to pull the cord overhead for immediate airlift back to your home country and gas extermination of the defective "handlers." Quality control, even during "massage decompression," is number one at Incheon International Airport.
After you have been satisfied, and here in Korea we mean fully to your little white heart's content satisfied, please proceed to the Immigration counters where you are sure to be treated with the respect consummate with your charmed life as a representative of the ascendant culture on Earth. Should one of these pesky underlings ask you too many invasive questions such as "Where are you from?" or "Do you have a job in Korea?" be sure to inform airport security and he will be dispatched forthwith. They are on your side.
Remember, the police are here to serve you. This whole country is a creation of the munificence of your superior culture. Should one of the local droids malfunction and subject you to a programming error, just laugh it off and send him off to re-education camp. The nearest fast food franchise kitchen should do just fine. Enjoy your stay in the "Last Best West!" |

Good point. If you're being left to fend for yourself, make sure you get as much information as you possibly can from the tourist info guys. Get them to write instructions, directions etc in Korean if possible, because once you leave the airport, spoken and written English is almost non existent. |

You're going to Gwangju, right? Are you going to Gimpo for the connecting flight, or have they got other plans for you? If you're coming in during the middle of the night, and have a morning flight out of Gimpo, you better sit tight at Incheon until Gimpo's doors open around 6am, when the express buses start going there, otherwise, you'll be sitting on cold concrete for awhile. |

My advice is to do a Hunter S impersonation. Have a ciggie in your face (unlit of course) and mumble something about bats and fat cat lawyers.
He/She will give up and just stamp your passport to get rid of you. Let them do the worrying-they get paid for it. |

Whatever you do, don't believe the taxi drivers, who often lie about whether there is a bus going to your destination or not. |
