It seems that most of you post here only so you can vent your anger. Misguided, narrowminded, and racist as it is, I can understand, it's actually theraputic. I just want to know what proportion of posters here really are racist (from intent) and which ones are just racist by accident.

You seem to have a hard time distinguishing between people complaining about what they don't like about Korea and racism. People complain in all countries. It doesn't mean they hate everybody (or anybody!) who lives there.

We do still have a little free-speech on this forum and sometimes we use that right to complain about the things that go in Korea which we don't like. Things that piss us off. That's not racism man.

you are a bit over-sensitive about this racism stuff Drakoi- not saying there isn't any, but it's not as prevalent as you seem to think.

As to why I post? Recently I'm starting to wonder that myself.

In this order:

1 - For fun
2 - To learn stuff
3 - To make new friends and acquaintances

Unless you're claiming "All Koreans are X", like most of the whiners do, then it becomes racial.

Now, that's not to say the whiners are racists. It's just that, being a minority for the first time in their lives, they are truely aware of racial difference, and use it as a good rant to cling to when venting their frustartions at not being on top of the social foodchain like back home. If the whiners were to go "Mr. Kim is a big ass." then they could claim to be free of this bigotry, but they don't. And that's why the OP has called some users racist.

That being said, over the last few years, I think I can count on one hand the true bigots who are and have been using this board.

I post because I feel like it. I dont post when I dont feel like it. Simple as that.

Willie I wasn't on top of the social food chain back home and I'm well aware I'm not here. You keep bringing this point up like it explains why people complain about some Koreans and some things that go on in Korea. It doesn't explain that at all. People who were nothing back home still come here and complain about Korea. Why?

I post as sometimes there are interesting topics discussed or I am bored.

Personaly I feel the racist tag is thrown around too much. Yes there are some racist things said but not as much as it is made out to be.A lot of times people type when angry and badly phrase such as saying "koreans" rather than "some koreans". This allows the more "enlightened" users to avoid the actual issue and just throw the racist tag and attack the poster. Maybe I am not programmed to be as sensitive to the actual wording and look more at the intent of the post than some others seem to be.

racist by intent or racist by accident? you do know what the term refers to don't you?
i'm not exactly sure i know what you mean, could you explain the difference please?
why i post? wondered that myself more than one occasion. on the face of it, i am typing my thoughts to people who i have never met, to be read by more people that i haven't met. usually about stuff that doesn't matter a great deal. i mean what is the point?
i wouldn't do this back home, so it must be a combination of low mental stimulation at work, (my replacement could be a trained marmoset for all the difficulty this job presents), time and boredom.
so please explain mr drakoi, cos i'm not sure where the racist bit comes in... maybe the inclusion says more about you than it does about the average daves poster?

I don't vent here.

You make it sound like it's an either/or question, when it's not. Where's the third option?

Typical Korean reaction for many, but not all Koreans.

Grow up.
