I get locked up in my office from 12 to 9, and afterwards I have things to work on at home so I don't go out except on the weekends. Today however they set me and a female employee free to go buy some textbooks. I just happened to find a copy of Beowulf, the black and silvery-looking one by Seamus Heaney, which was lucky, but sadly not related to this thread.
On the subway on the way to the bookstore I was definately feeling a negative vibe, so I suppose it has seeped its way into the majority, or at least a large number. This vibe is like an instant of...disgust or bitterness? It's just for a moment, and then it vanishes. There's no difference on my home page or board, or with people I work withor anything, but on the subway it's a different matter. On the subway I can feel when people want to practice English on me before I see them, or when somebody is going to say 'excuse me' as they walk by (in spite of the great distance from me), or when a kid is worth making faces at, or when an old man wants to come over and give a lecture on something.

Periodically, I will get that, too. When I am around a frenzy of different people and energies and vibes. Like on a subway. Sometimes, it feels very clean and undisturbed. But sometimes there is something a little off-kilter that makes you look around or feel uncomfortable. My ex-girlfriend was a lot more into picking up on this stuff. Perhaps too much. She used to have a tough time with the frenzy of mixed energies when a lot of people are in a certain environment or workplace.

I had that the other day. I was negotiating the contract for the apartment I'll be living in soon.

I was at the Pu-Dong-San (the person who matches landlord and tenant).. and he organized the contract and invited the actual landlord. The landlord was a big dickhead who never once ackowledged, spoke to me, or said anything to me. In addition, the pu-dong-san guy and the landlord seemed to be discussing real serious issues in a very loud almost telling each other 'the way things are' kind of voices.

In short, I had a REAL negative feeling about the whole thing.. and really hoping like hell it isn't a foreshadowing of my own tenant-landlord relationship. On the plus side, I don't pay the rent to him, but its taken out of my monthly paycheck. So hoping I WON'T see him again or have to deal with him.

So yes, I know what you mean by those vibes!

I thought the OP was talking about a specific vibe, related to the recent negative reports about English teachers in Korea and particularly their relationships with Korean women. If so, I'd like to suggest that it may be partly in your head. I thought I was getting a weird vibe too recently, but forced myself to take a step back and realized that the vibe was coming off of me, not off of others.

I've been looking for some kind of repurcussion/feeling from Koreans from these incidents.. but nothing. Everyone seems as happy and helpful as always. Even had the usual (generally Korean guys) come up to me in the street wanting to practice English with me for awhile - which I wish didn't happen as much.

Yeah, I got the gig and in Seoul again. Starting next week - if I get my work visa soon. Still awaiting the paperwork to come back from immigration.

That was what I was referring to. I'm really sensitive to vibes, though I don't show it. I don't suspect it would be directed at you though, considering the gender and all.
I was in a good mood today though, as I should be when I'm set free to go to Kangnam with a cute co-worker for a few hours, so my own personal vibe was top-notch.

Women now look at me like a sex object. I have become that naughty thing that they cannot have.

Perhaps all of this negative publicity is a good thing? If only the Korean men knew. I'd like to thank them!

I find if you are minding your own business, rarely do you get some local coming up to talk to you. It is when you are (how to say this??) looking lost, or out of place, or plan out looking around at others that you get the attention.
