I posted this on the brown bread thread over in the FAQ, but I figure that like me, a lot of people don't bother going over there much.
There is this fabulous company in Korea that bakes organic whole grain bread....lots of different kinds. They deliver and it's free if you order 40,000 won worth or more. You can either do what I did and order a lot to stuff the freezer or get some co-workers together and put in an order all together. Or, you can just pay the 3,500 won shipping fee.
www.countrylifebakery.co.kr All kinds of organic bread
Click on the fifth link from the left. That will show you what they have available. Click on the picture for the name in English along with a list of ingredients, in English. Fax them any orders as the person answering the phone doesn't speak English. You can also e-mail them (address on their site)--"Daniel" is extremely helpful.
I ordered just about one of everything from them. Just opening up the packages and smelling the bread is a trip to sensory heaven. Then, of course, you get to eat it. This is the best bread I've had in a very long time--perhaps ever. I don't think I could ever say enough good things about Country Life Bakery's products. I've been eating bread for nearly every meal since the delivery as it is too good to forgo and eat something else.
Oh, and you can pay them through a bank transfer--so easy and convenient!
Knowing that this kind of bread is available to me anytime I want it sure makes life more pleasant! No more of that nasty sugary stuff they sell at the bakery! No more wondering just what makes up the ingredients of some of the "whole grain" breads that are sold in the bakeries you find in your neighborhood.
I completely recommend ordering from Country Life! I am certainly their newest, loyal, regular customer.

They have a delicious veggie buffet for only 8000W, closed Sat. |

Whew....it's all okay. The link I gave above is the link on one of the products I have from them. I remembered that it always reverted to another address after I hit enter. Well, it just doesn't do that anymore, but thanks to my histroy bar, I know that the actual link is:
www.countrylifebakery.co.kr
I SWEAR the other link used to work! (Or maybe I imagined it?) Anyway, all is okay. Use the above link and click on the fifth link from the left (going across) and you'll find what you are looking for.
Will edit the OP.
EDIT: One more thing: don't order the oats....they are roasted and salted...as my co-worker says, they taste like horsefeed. Everything else I ordered is beyond delicious.
EDIT: One more one more thing--I checked the package. The first link I gave was entirely out of my own imagination. |

| This looks like a very cool resource. I see theyre based in Wonju in my province but I'm curious how they ship? Some kind of courier that would just drop a box at my door if I'm not home? From the extent of your enthusiasm I take it fresh delivery isnt an issue? |

| They informed me that an oat cereal my co-worker wanted had been discontinued and asked if just plain oats instead would suffice. The day after I said yes, the package arrived. I'm not sure how it arrived as I had it delivered to my hagwon and I was in class at the time. All I know is that some guy carried it up the three flights of stairs. It was very, very fresh. I wouldn't be surprised if it had been packaged up that very morning (it was delivered late in the afternoon). |

Probably as soon as the average Koreans stop thinking that the sugary stuff in the common bakeries qualifies as bread. I don't remember bread of this quality being available at supermarkets back home. I think you had to go to an actual health store to get anything as good as this.
And, in the meantime, you can have it delivered right to your door...no need to go in the cold, deal with crowds, etc. etc. |

The typical big supermarket in the U.S. carries several brands and several varieties of whole grain bread. |
