I for one would like to know how Hongik U figured out which applicants were odd. None of the places I've ever worked has been able to distinguish between the more or less normal and the flat out odd.

I wonder if they just hired Psych, Philosophy and Art majors.

The gommint told them if they reduced their teacher-student ratio (by half?) they would get some grant money. Hence, the massive influx of new teachers.

But you wait... once the money's in their hands, you'll be seeing a lot of those new teachers turned out on their ass.

If by substantiate, you mean paper documentation or a web link, no. I know people who are teaching there, and I can only go by what they are telling me.

Bozo,

Interesting.
I have never heard of a university hiring 40 English teachers in 1 semester before.

In fact, I didn't beleive it when I heard about it. But it's true as I've exchanged mail with people who've landed jobs there this semester.

On all accounts the gig sounds quite good (with the exception of no housing) - so we'll see what happens at Hongik bewteen now and September and if the majority of these teachers stay and/or are kept on staff.
