Hey,
I got some time off next week and decided that I'll be going to Guam for a bit. Just want to hear some other people's views on the place. Specific questions: How easy is it to get a hotel/motel without reservations? Can you just do it when you get there? I know...poor planning. Part of the reason is that I got out of the credit card game long ago and most online reservations require a credit card. Also, how about car rentals? Is it pretty easy to do without a credit card(ie putting down a deposit instead)? Thanks for any advice. |

I don't think we used a credit card to make hotel reservations. I'd call ahead though, you land in Guam late at night from Korea.
It's not a busy time of year or a big Asian holiday. There should be plenty of rooms available and many hotels pick you up at the airport.
Renting a car w/o a credit card may be more difficult--they'll probably want a small pile of cash in lieu of a credit card as a deposit against damage/final gas fill-up/insurance.
Bigger hotels in Guam can refer you to the car rental companies they deal with--a phone call would tell you what their payment/rental policy is.
We went in January and had a great little mini-vacation! Some pics:
