Well, once again its time for Japan. I have to go the end of March, and would like to get sorted out where to go. Fukoka? Osaka? Tokyo? I would like to go on Saturday, get the visa Monday, and fly back to Korea Monday evening. Anyone have an idea? I would like to spend as little as I can for the hotel for 2 nights, but I want to have a nice time. Does anyone have any ideas? hanks in advance.

Where in Korea do you live? Youll pay out your ass for a hotel in tokyo, but youll have a great time probably. If you live down south like in Busan, go to Fukuoka. If you live up north, go to Osaka. Check with the embassy/consulate before you go becaue I think they may have changed the rules so you cant get it in one day. Also check for holidays cause they arent open on Japanese or Korean holidays.

I have been to Fukoka 3 times, and always gotten the visa in one day. I just wanted to try something new. The new school will pay for the flight, and the visa,I just have to pay for the hotel. So I figured I can go on Sat and come back Monday, instead of soing on Sunday and comming back Monday. I have time to figure this one out, but I am trying to get some hotel prices. Anyway, thank you to those who answered.

I don't think you can do it one day at the embassy, so if you're looking for something new, then basically it's Osaka. As far as hotel prices go, everywhere in Japan is expensive. And if you want to have a good time, that's not going to be cheap either. If you're into sightseeing, head up to Kyoto for the weekend and check out Nara as well, if you have the time. Not a lot of sights in Osaka, but good nightlife there.

Keep in ming that the Spring Equinox (March 20/21) is a national holiday in Japan, and the 21st is a Monday this year, so if you plan to go that week, make sure they're open that day, because they might not be.

Well, Monday April 4 my e2 expires, so i have to go to japan before that. Tuesday is April 5, a Korean holida. The new job starts the first week in March, so even tho it really is not legal for me to teach, I can. (this will be job number 4)
So, I can spend some money on hotels and to see something. I just dont want to spend alot of money on hotels, if I dont have to. Night life does not interest me, I would rather visit some place durring the day.
My friend did a visa run in one day in Osaka. She left Korea in the morning, went to the embasy before lunch, picked up her new visa in the early afternoon, and got back on a plane to Krea that same day. If I have to I can do it that way, but I figure since i'm going to Japan maight as well make a mini vacation out of it the same time.

So is it definete that people are getting their visa in Fukuoka in one day?

I'm looking at the visa run on one day - Monday.. and hoping it can be done in Fukuoka.

I don't feel like going to Osaka (for the 3rd time). Never been to Fukuoka before.

No offence Tiger but you want to go to Fukuoka but you want to be in and out as quickly as possible???

Does it make a difference where you go.

The shortest visa run i took was three days,,,the longest was 3 weeks Very Happy

I always double my visa runs as another holiday

Well, because of immigration delays.. I'm down to one day.

I've been to Osaka twice.. but never Fukuoka. So I would prefer Fukuoka.

I finally got my immigration papers for a visa today (whew!).. which means to start teaching Wednesday.. I have to get it all done Monday (since Tuesday is a Holiday).

So.. lets hope. I agree visa run combined with Holiday though. Thats what I want - but only 1 working day (for the Korean Embassy) between Saturday (today) and Wednesday (when I have to teach).

It is a cool building ...

the front is very normal .... the back is stepped with a park ...

Lots of cedar trees on the gardens ...

I can't remeber the name and, for once, I will not go digging for a map ...

I have some great pictures.

Anyway, Fukuoka is very peacefull ... often voted best city in Asia in which to live.

Going to edit my post now.

I was on the phone with the consulate in Fukuoka just a couple of days ago.

If you get your application in by 11:30am they can have the visa ready by 4:30 the same day.

I had a seat reserved on the Beetle this afternoon and was going to spend two nights in Fukuoka, but immigration took too long processing my application so I'm still in Korea and probably going to have to do the run there and back in a day.

I'm really disappointed as I was looking forward to a few drinks at the bars in Fukuoka.

I'm in Seoul now, so it might be better for me to go to Osaka as I'm short of time.

Yeah, its true, you can get it all done in one day.

Regarding the bars, not much going on here Sunday and Monday nights (and I went just about everywhere I could). Sounds like Saturday was a blast though.
