well, it seems i've failed. i've downloaded the replacement files but i have no idea what to do with them. I searched my whole computer for those files, in order to replace them, but the search brings up nothing.
like, if the file i downloaded is TW2005_MI.rar.......what the heck do i do with that. in the tiger woods folder, i only have a bin and a cue file.
i'm guessing i have to go into the program files to find it, but i did a full computer search and it took forever.
i'll give it one more shot if another technical-minded person can give me some advice.
thanks.

Ok...the .bin and .cue files are there to be burned. They are an "image" of a disk, and need to be written to a CD-RW. Open Nero, or whatever burning software you have, and select "record", "burn image". You have a .cue file to assist burning in software that doesn't support .bin files, such as Nero. If you have a program that does support .bin file burning, then the .cue is not needed.

Nero and alternatives:

Ahead Nero Burning Rom
www.nero.com
Alcohol 120%
www.alcohol-soft.com
BlindWrite
www.blindwrite.com
DiscJuggler
www.padus.com
CDRWIN
www.goldenhawk.com/

When the image has been burned, it is ready to be installed.

Install the game. After all is done, go into the folder which has the installation (maybe C:/Program Files/TigerWoods/Boring Game) and look for the "TigerWoods.exe" file. This is the one that needs to be replaced with the file inside the .rar file I led you to. This file in the .rar is the "no-cd" file, an altered version of the .exe file which won't look for the CD and thus, bypasses copy protection. To "extract" the file, right click on it and look for that option. Even WinXP has native support for .zip and .rar files.

If you can't extract it, get winrar, a cool little program for just this function. It's not free, but this one is.

When you find the installation of the game, take the file inside the .rar (after you extract the file...in it's .rar state its useless) and drag it into the same folder with the original "tiger Woods.exe" (or whatever the filename is) and replace the original.

Thats it. click the new .exe file and play.

well, didn't work anyway. when i try to unzip the new rar file, there's only one file inside, another rar file....no exe files. i'm at a loss and i'm afraid i'll have to shell out the money for the game....but i'm so close!

Ok...I went there. Sorry...why? Because....

The Tiger woods game is 3 CDs. If you only have one, then there is no way you will play.

Now, on the third CD, there is a crack for a no-cd. Put in the third CD...wait for it to autorun, then hit "close" or "exit". Now, right click on the CD and choose "explore". Look around in the CD for a file folder called "crack" or something. This is file you have to copy over to your installation directory.

If it's not on CD3, then it's on CD1.

However, the last link on the page I sent you to does have a file that explains this. Which link did you download from that page?

go to where you installed the game.. under C:/ program files..
in there replace the EXE file with the nocd patch exe that you downloaded.
you did download one right? if you didnt download it again.
when you see an ICON thats what you want to replace with..
once you have replaced it. double click on it..you should be sweet

ok...generally when you download a game, whether it is for the pc or game system, you have to uncompress the image file using a program such as winrar. This is very simple just open the program and uncompress the files into a new folder that you specify. Now you should have a bin and cue file and you will need to burn this using Nero. So when you're in nero click the recorder tab on the top and choose burn image. Then just load up the cue file from your folder and burn away. Now you should be able to install the game right off your perfect image cd.

I got Starwars Battlefront on BT and would like to burn it onto CD-r but when I put the cue file for CD1 into Nero (in burn image function) it simply burns the .cue file in about 2 seconds and that's it. The CD seems to be blank as before.

What am I not doing?

Check the contents of the .cue file for any errors....ones that Nero won't find (it thinks its doing the right thing), but errors that will cause the file to be skipped or something.

A .cue file should look like this:

FILE "AFilename.FLT.ShareReactor.BIN" BINARY
TRACK 01 MODE1/2352
INDEX 01 00:00:00

...or something similar. Open it with notepad and have a look at it.
