Second, maybe third, generation Korean-Americans love to make cracks about Canada. Sometimes they are very accurate in their assessment, but I can't help but see the irony in someone two generations away from a GDP of $65.00 per annum lording it over Canadians who have been hewing that wood and carrying that water for hundreds of years.

Don't mind us, we're just blowing off some steam... like some of the Canadians here who habitually make cracks about Korea. The same Canadians who've shunned their parent's second largest bedroom to "lord it" over Koreans who hand over fat white envelopes to their eager out-stretched hands. Irony upon irony.

Also, watching a bunch of white dudes psycho-analyzing gyopos is like watching a special ed. class discussing astro-physics.

There is something fascinating about it, I admit.

A Special Ed. class discussing Astro-Physics? Actually, that reminds me more of my freshman English classes that have been "studying" English for over ten years but still can't tell me what colour the sky is.

I haven't actually had a bad gyopo experience in a long time. I just find them even more rah-rah USA, and often totally gang banger-ed out, than fifth or sixth generation Americans. Always eager to outdo the representatives of the new master, Koreans are. From torturing Viet Cong to kamikaze raids on American warships, from inciting racial hatred on hip-hop albums to mythologising their insignificant bands of Independence Fighters in the colonial period the truth here is used and abused hard and fast .

Is that coz your brain to body size is still superior to all other humans? Says so in a museum down in Cheonan. At least whiteys reserve such nonesense for white power websites. Maybe you lot could form a Korean version of stormfront. Oh wait, its call Daum. My bad.

Do any other Californians here see the irony in a Korean-American complaining about Mexican immigrants?

What's the irony (you've said this before, but I digress)? If there were similar reports about Koreans in the US, I'd acknowledge it. So what is your argument? I quote sources and you come up with some lame, one sentence answer.

To me, the irony is that I remember living in a California with 20 million people (and I'm not THAT old) instead of 35 million, which extra 15 million includes a mass influx of both Koreans and Mexicans, among others. Life there before this revolutionary demographic shift was actually quite pleasant.

I second that. Wink Isn't it strange that Ya Ya never had anything to say about my article that depicted a harmonious relationship between Korean Americans and Mexicans in LA? The Mexican men were apparently popular with the Korean ladies too. Rock on SAs!

I have a friend from Canada who is a kyopo.....he recently visited korea....I believe the way he described it was something like this..."as I looked at the people around me and realized that for once in my life I wasn't "different" than everyone else, I also realized that I had absolutely nothing in common with these people. It was at that point that I missed my home where I felt I belong...in Canada" Perhaps my friend is lucky that he feels so secure about where he belongs..everyone's situation is different...of course I realize that....I think that kyopos get kind of a raw deal...so lighten up ....cut them some slack. I'm assuming that most kyopos have grown up in a western/foreign culture....perhaps they are experiencing similar things that all the rest of us do....except they have the added pressure of being "expected" to behave as a Korean national should......well, it's just a thought....

Dogbert, wow, I guess you can't face facts. The Mexicans take more than they give. Sure they are a source of cheap labor but many of the jobs can be done by legal residents. It's obvious YOU have no idea what you are talking about, you actually might want to see how it is in Cali once in a while in between flipping your burgers. You keep ignoring the STATS I bring up and instead present some happy-go-lucky story by the PC extremist LA Times, which describes ONE Mexican and ONE Korean who get together.

The California population is expected to hit 60 million in mid-century, mostly due to reckless breeding by Mexicans. Many make minimum wage (if that) and put a strain on the social welfare system with their three or four + kids. Koreans (or most Asians, for that matter) do not put the same strain or RARELY qualify for any type of public assistance, yet revitalize bad areas with their businesses. Neighborhoods that see an influx of blacks or Mexicans (could it be because Mexicans try to fit 10 people in a one-bedroom apartment, or ghettoize any place they move into, but i digress) see their real estate values plummet, while those with an influx of Asians see their values rise. Never mind that Mexicans have the 2nd highest rate of incarceration after the blacks.

Dogbert, try commenting on things you have half an idea about, please.

Why is it that Kyopo always castigate whites working in Korea as 'burger flippers'? Is that some kind of 'thing' for you people? What exactly were you doing in America that was so great?

The arrogance of Kyopo never ceases to amaze.

Looking back at my last remark, I should've figured at least one of you would knee-jerk and interpret my remarks as racist. My bad. I'll try to be a bit less subtle next time.

Maybe I can say the same to foreigners who think they know Korea after just a few years, despite not speaking Korean, whining like there's no tomorrow and only hanging out with other foreigners.

During my two years in CA, I was in real estate appraisal, escrow and property management. I'm not saying it was great and I didn't call you a burger flipper, but well, some people do seem like that's all they are cut out for.

I agree totally... and yet the ambience is still pretty close.

It might just seem that way because of your obvious prejudice, but gyopos aren't the only ones who've promoted this notion.

If this board is to be believed, there's truth in all stereotypes.
