I'm guessing the OP is a vegetarian who keeps getting clams in her soup- if so you need to specify that you want no meat, no seafood and no fish

Well, I try to stick to restaurants I'm comfortable with (ones known to be very veg-friendly) or else I'll ask a Korean speaker for help ordering. Even so, eating out is very risky and it's always best to prepare stuff at home. In addition to ع, and , it might be a good idea to specify things like , , and ġ -- among others, depending on what you're ordering and how it's normally made. I wish I had a more complete list including all the various animal-based sauces and flakes that might be used. Also, " " means animal products and "ä " means "vegetables only," but depending on the dish there's no guarantee everyone will understand.

It was more of a curiosity question for me ... People have told me it's ع but ػ깰/ػ깰 ǰ are in the dictionary, and it's very confusing.

(Sorry, I also don't know where all the spaces go ... Crying or Very sad )

being a veggie here is hard I've got a friend who never ate meat or fish before she came to Korea, and I mean never. Now she's thrown the towel in and has decided to have a year of eating any and everything

ػ깰 ǰ means seafood and fish food products. It means basically all types of food from the sea.

Since I came to Korea, I started to tolerate eating more and more fish, but only slowly. I even started eating raw fish, not bad.
