I have a few hobbies. I jam with a few people and make music, I read as much as I can, I listen to a lot of music, I hibernate and cook in the winter and go out on the hills around Seoul at the weekends, I'm getting into photography but I'm more interested in filmmaking recently, though music will always be my first love.
Making films is fun. Recently me and a few friends have made a great short and it will be available on a vcd for cheap price. It is an all original piece made on no budget and just expressing some of the gritty reality of living in Korean as an English teacher. I'm doing the editing at the moment and if you want to buy one then just PM me. The score is pretty good, it's pretty funny and will be available in a month or so, maybe less.
Everyone I think needs some sort of creative outlet if they're not to become an idiot bore. Don't get me wrong I like going to pubs and drinking beer, but it is great to be creative and make things.
Anyone up for a collaboration project can also PM.
But the main point of this weird post is.
WHAT DO YOU DO FOR FUN? Besides getting drunk and finding girlfriends and boyfriends and or playing computer games? |

The last three don't apply because:
I have a girlfriend.
I don't drink to excess.
I don't play computer games.
For fun I play ulti, read lots, dance around my apt, do yoga, take walks, cook, write, d/l & enjoy movies (Orwell Rolls in his Grave) & new music (Stand Up--Ludacris), study Korean, read this, Mith's and the other board, and procrasinate about learning the drum. |

I write a website, although I don't like to plug it too much. *ahem*
I play football with some korean guys, volunteer once a week, go to the gym, visit other towns/places go and see friends in other cities, explore Seoul.
Just thought I'd make a record of the types of things I used to do on this thread, since I bought an X-Box two days ago and probably won't leave my apartment until Chusok. |

I rather envy you, in a nice way of course.
Time is the issue, after a 60 hour week there is not much left: anyway, I play bass as often as possible and when the weather is better might cycle to 3 Alleys rather than taking the subway.
Reading is important except that I read so fast in Englsih all day that the pleasure has to a large extent gone from reading English books so I read French books. This slows me down so I have to read almost every word and have regained the pleasure of savouring a book.
And of course, I love loading/unloading the dishwasher, hoovering the floor (well, Dyson-ing these days). Damn, that thing is so powerful it's hard to slide across the floor.
And for the final ectsasy, taking the riubbish out on Sundays and separating the "wet waste" .... uuuuughhhhh .. |

I hike and travel around Korea as much as I can.
I spend too much on photography equipment. Fun for me. Not for the bank account.
I occasionally go out to eat and get drunk with my friends.
That's about it. Works for me. |

Plat Hockey, read, take my dog for a walk chase my wife around the apartment. Surf the net for conspiracy theories. Play basketball.
And I chase my wife around the apartment. |

i had a blast during my contract there. my typical week:
2-3 times a week: public bath with sauna
3-5 times a week: played pool and had a few beers at a nearby jazz bar
1-2 times a week: played serious pocketball at the place under my hagwon, also learned korean billiards (pretty easy imho if you have any pool ability)
1-2 times a week: hit the local computer super swap meet type place. picked up a bunch of good titles for 5-10 bucks a pop.
every day: spent spare time playing video games at the arcade, usually whatever pocket change i had...i still enjoy vertical shooters.
weekends: hit the local ESL bookstores for new books. sometimes i would also go dancing at nightclubs or watch movies.
towards the end of my contract, i picked up video go-stop and traded in points for trinkets...i think i still have a lot of them.
once in a while i would just explore a new area on foot.
this is all not including the food (samgaetang twice a week) or going out with students, or blind dates. of course, at the time i wasn't married.
one thing i regret though is not hanging out more with my co-workers. they were all good guys and really funny people. my room mate twice rented a car and drove up the coast during the holidays. |

Reminisce about happy times, before that fateful night I returned home to find my wife, my kids, my dog dead, by the very hand I'd trusted to care for them. |

1. Shave my chest.
2. Make orange juice popsicles in the freezer.
3. Ponder over the most peaceful means by which to liberate my country from the British.
4. Explore my cat. |

I used to draw and watch tv and play videogames. Going up to Seoul was nice too because it was novel. |
