I've been told that I need to get a "blue card" before I do a visa run. WTF is that?

Thanks!

The "blue letter" is the confirmation paper from immigration that shows all your paperwork has been processed and you're eligible for an E2 visa.

Thats the piece of paper you have to give to the Korean embassy or consulate to get your E2.

Immigration usually mails it to your employer 2 weeks after the application of your initial paperwork.

So once I get it, I'm home free?

Once you get it, its time for a "visa run" to procure an E2 visa; Osaka being the usually place.

Legally you can't teach until you have an E2 visa.

But this being Korea, legality has little bearing.

Wow, thanks. I just hope my application goes through. My boss went to immigration himself to submit my paperwork and talk with the officials there and he said everything went OK.

And I'm not working until then.

Once you get the "Blue Paper" you will need to take it, your passport, photos and money to a Korean Consulate outside of Korea.

There they will review the paper work and MAY issue you with a visa stamp in your passport.

Then you will have to return to Korean clear customs and immigration and THEN you are home free.

Any literate person call tell that the implied thought behind his statement is that he hasn't worked and is coing his best to follow the law.

Since we're keeping score on literacy... any literate person should be able to make the distinction between call and can, or doing and "coing", but we won't get into that. Do me a favor while you police the rest of the threads, go get stuffed. RD has posted quite a bit here. I was under the impression he was already working based on some of his responses. This is what provoked the question.

Since we're keeping score on literacy, look at my above post:

I hope that is a clear enough answer to your question.

Thanks for the extra details, PM. Very Happy

Just out of curiousity--why wouldn't they issue you a visa if you sent all this stuff?
