So I went on a visa run 2 days ago and was told I'd overstayed my visa by 6 days. Eh? I explained I thought I had 14 days to leave the country *and* the reason I'd waited was it took immigration that long to produce the blue paper. "You have wrong information," I was told. Do I? Have they changed the rules lately?

It wasn't a hassle and they didn't charge me but I honestly thought I was complying with the rules. (Particularly as my new employer phoned up immigration and was told everything was ok as the new visa application was in process.)

Anyway I was supposed to go and apply for an extension right after the old visa expired apparently.

So does anyone know what that was all about?

It started when the check in counter clerk noticed I had a return ticket but my re-entry permit was expired. I tried saying I'd have a brand new visa when I returned but she wasn't having it.
