i'm wondering why it's acceptable for koreans to say that they only date koreas, yet if a white people were to proclaim a similar statement, it would be contrued as an incredibly racist statement. |

For Christ's sake, haven't we all had enough of these contemptably unoriginal threads?
Don't some people around here have anything better to talk about?
How many times are people on this board willing to flog the same dead horse? |

Why limit one self to one group. If i wasn't already married I would freely date women of any race or background. People who see they will only date one kind of person needs to open their minds. |

At least they're honest about their intentions. Many date foreigners for english practise, amusement, or other forms of practise- all the time never actually taking us seriously, simply because we aren't Korean, at the end of the day. Their "serious relationship" buttons are triggered by the sight of skin color and the reek of gimchi.
Don't get emotionally involved until you're married and share the motgage on an expensive appt.: ..even then... |

And I am sick of people bagging threads while offering nothing! If you have nothing to contribute, why not just ignore the thread and leave it to people that are happy to discuss it?
paperbag princess, I dont think it is racist at all. I think it is a big compliment to the people of the race that you like. Only a twisted mind could turn love into racism. |

i guess not everyone has had the chance to say their piece indy...
its not racist, but it is a bit freaky to me...
obviously there is a difference between 'dating' and 'finding someone attractive'; people do have 'types' that they go for - brunettes, funny, sporty etc...
but it doesn't anyone else think its odd when you hear from a korean (usually a girl) that they want a 'western' boyfriend? or from a westerner that they just want a korean girlfriend?
surely its a bit ignorant of the westerners to think what you're looking for can only be found in one ethnic group... but the first statement is even more naive to me - exactly what (other than skin colour) groups the waygook males in this country? an aussie is different to a kiwi to a canadian to a brit etc...
if i heard a girl was interested in me just because 'she wants a western boyfriend' i'd run a mile
so there! |

I guess I've known (white) women who say "I only date latinos" or "I only date black men" and you nod and think "well, that's what she likes." Oddly a man says "I only date Asian women" and (white and asian) women label him as having a sick fetish. And yet if he was like "I only date big breasted blondes" he'd generally be considered a healthy North American male. |

this may be redundant, but it doesn't mean that it isn't important. i don't choose my partners by his/her race, so i find it incredibly small-minded when someone does. |

Nah, I'd pretty much call anyone who lists a certain race as their "type" as a little odd, if not outright racist. I generally don't find Korean men appealing ( personality more so than looks) and I suppose that makes me odd too. |

It isn't necessarily racist, although it could be.
Some people may not be willing to put up with the hassles of raising 'mixed' children or intercultural relationships. I've met plenty of people who won't date Koreans because of the communication problems--she doesn't get my jokes. Some women may not want to move to another country with their husband.
Rumor has it that there is more to a life-long committment than just a regular sex partner. |

reminds me of the seinfeld episode when the girl george wanted to date only told him she had a boyfriend.
in america, it's pretty common practice for women to lie rather than just tell a man "no" directly. |

I think most people have a preference. But as soon as you say: " Nah, I'm not into black guys." or white guys or blonde guys or whatever... the most beautiful specimen of that description will walk by you. Don't limit yourself and go with the flow and you'll have your foot in your mouth a lot less frequently |
