Hi,

1)Accommodation.

Can anyone recommend a good cheap/clean hotel/hostel/yogwan/goshiwan in Seoul close to a subway station? I would be looking to stay for up to a month or two.
What's the average price for a months stay? or do you know any websites where I can find some hotels?

2)Food.

Where can I find cheap restaurants or food courts in Seoul?
How much should I budget (in Won) for food on a daily basis?

3)Transport.

Is it possible to buy a one-week/one-month subway pass? How much does it cost? Can I use any line in Seoul?
Is it possible to walk around some areas of Seoul without getting lost?
Where can I find cheap/free city maps?

4)Phonecards.

Can I buy an international/local phonecard in a convenience store?
Is it possible to buy/rent a cellphone without a job or an ARC?

1. Accomodation...don't bother staying near seoul station, it won't save you any time or money.

2. Food. cheap western food....not likely except for spaghetti. cheap food is everywhere. 4-6,000won per meal.
or you can buy ramyon in convenience stores. they have hot water to add. 700-1,500won.

3. Sunbway fares and map...

i would asy it's very difficult to rent a cellphone without an ARC. you might be able to buy a cheap one(50,000-80,000) and use prepaid phone cards.

Scroll down to the bottom of this link for info about the T-Money card, which can be used on local buses and subway in Seoul & Gyeonggi. Buy it at kiosks with T-Money sign or at any subway station for 1500won and charge however much you want on it. Using this is not only handy but also saves you 50-odd won on a fare each time you use it.
You can buy the same card (mini size) to hang from your cell phone but it's heaps more expensive so I think I will live without that luxury for the time being...

Yes you can use any subway line (it is all the same company, unlike Japan).

Get maps from any Tourist Info Centre/kiosk located around Seoul. The maps are very good and it is very easy to navigate the subway/train stations and the streets of Seoul. Don't worry - Seoul station is not a nightmare rabbit warren like Tokyo or Shibuya stations!
