I've twice obtained an E-2, presenting application, photo, passport, and the certification from Korean Immigration. Has anyone ever presented a letter of recommendation NOTARIZED or presented a Form 129, letter of reference NOTARIZED? This is what the Los Angeles Consulate writes:
Teaching Foreign
Languages
(E-2)
- Certificate of academic degree or diploma of graduation
- Employment contract
- Documents regarding establishment of school or organization
- Letter of personal reference notarized (form 129)
I might add that I've never had to present a document regarding the legal status of the employer or school. Have you? I've accepted a job in Incheon and prefer NOT to have consulate/visa problems. Thanks. |

I wonder if Form 129 is the blue form that your school gives you to take to immigration/embassy??? |

Having the same problem as OP, wasn't answered here. Maybe someone has a answer now.
I got an E-2 in 2003, finished the contract, went back to the States. Now, I have a new job and am trying to get the E-2 again. I don't remember having to show a reference letter in 2003. I know there is a bunch of new stuff going on with SK Immigration, though. Can someone shed some light for me? Is it a letter of reference that my new employer sends me with my other docs, saying that they have hired me? Or a letter of reference from a former employer, that the LA consulate can theoretically check?
All this new immigration stuff gives me a headache... |

What it sounds like to me is that they didn't list the process to get the blue paper, (which is the info you need) just the process to get the E-2. Your best bet is to e-mail someone at the consulate directly. Ask them what you need to get the "Confirmation of Visa Issuance" form ( the blue paper)
The documents about the school or business has always been a requirement, but generally your employer handles that when they submit your docs to get the blue paper. |
