What's the simplist way to say 'I call mother' or 'I tell mother' (phonetically) in Korean?

Try "omma hantae irreun da" Translates roughly as "I'm going to ring your mother".

I think one will always have some classes that are not much fun.

The nature of the work, I'd say.

I'm in my no more nice teacher phase now. Gave all the kids a letter that said, approximately. "You are here to learn. I am here to teach. I am not here to be an amusement to you. You are not here to talk to your friends in Korean. If you want to be treated like adults, act like adults. If not, I will treat you like babies." Ah well, I'm probably screwed either way.

I wouldn't bother with contracts and that kind of nonsense with your 5th graders..especially the line about wanting to be treated like adults (they're 5th graders, they don't want to be treated like adults Smile ).

Instead, get to the root of why they're acting the way they are. Are there a couple key offenders? Are they bored and frustrated or are they chatty? Is the worklevel too difficult? How can you change the class dynamics (change room, seating pattern, etc.)? Shake up the class dynamics a little bit, isolate the worst offenders, make it look like you mean business, and maybe throw some positive incentives in for good behaviour (knick-knacks, stickers, snack parties, etc.), and you'll probably see some changes. They're only kids after all!

they are bored- why shouldn't they be when the book is maybe 60 pages long and admin insists that we use it for 2 months? (Because "parents don't want to pay for too many books") I wanted them to know I meant business so I gave them all the paper and had them read it out loud. It was good for shock value if nothing else.

7 middle school 1st year, one solitary girl. 90 minutes. Beginner level with almost no interest in anything. Once a week, thankfully.

I've had these two students for two years now...

They left last week. Finally. Oh... God. Thank you.
