How about starting a sticky thread whereby all the regular users of this site state where they are from and then perhaps newbies with questions about teaching/living in Korea can ask those people who are from the same country as them.
This would be good for issues such as Visa paperwork in each particular country, finding cheap flights, etc.
The majority of people teaching in Korea tend to be American and Canadian...so perhaps this would benefit British, Australian, Kiwi and Irish teachers a lot more.
What do you think? Sounds bad...? |

I don't wanna do that. That would make things easier for the people that are looking for me. |

This thread is in the wrong forum
and a sticky? why?
just use the "search" function
and start a thread if you want specific advice from people from a specific country. |

I guess that idea didn't go down too well....after reading that "people willing to help through PM's" sticky on the FAQ, I thought maybe a similar type sticky but with people from different countries willing to help out their fellow compatriots might be a good idea.
The main reason being that whenever I ask for info or advice the majority of people who reply tend to be North American, and they just assume that I'm North American too, and that doesn't help me much when I need info about shipping stuff to Korea, or info about visa processing in the UK, finding cheap flights etc
plus they always quote in dollars....??!!
a BIG shout-out to the POUND!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Search function on Daves?
Have you ever tried it?
See if it's effective before you start telling people to use it. |

Plato's republic: I agree with you. It would probably make things a bit easier, less time consuming for non-North Americans, or maybe just me Sometimes I don't even know what they're referring to eg 'Costco' etc. Anyway, personally I think it's a good idea.
And the Search function thingy is awful. |

For a long time I was using the search function wrongly because I didn't bother to read the small print. It doesn't just work like Google or something.
I wasn't using "and" in my criteria. |

That would be the British Pound....currently a heavyweight champion in comparison to its lesser cousin...the featherweight Dollar. |

The search function on this site is as about as reliable as a Ukrainian airline. |
