Wow! That didn't sound like the best of experiences. That is a real shame. Are you planning on going back to SoKo at all?
Your school does sound like a bit of a joke. Amateurish and unprofessional. The incident with the child putting his foot through the door and the broken glass was unbelievable. What kind of irresponsible people leave broken glass on the floor with small children around?
I'm just glad that I'm a pretty tough person myself. I get the feeling I'm going to need to be able to stick up for myself out there! |

That child was in the hospital for a week and walked with a limp for I don't know how long after that. Cut some tendons or something. To this day I wish I had gone out and cleaned it up, but I was way down the hall and I was sure one of the Korean teachers who were standing right in front of it would clean it.
Yeah, Korea is a tough place all right. It is very hard to live there. But it is also pretty amazing and a once in a lifetime experience. Just make sure you work at a good school. That makes all the difference.
I might go back. I'm doing an LLB right now in Canada so I won't be free for another 2 years. I'm thinking of going to Kaoshiung in Taiwan (I went to Taichung, Taiwan after Korea and had an interesting time there). Or I might go out to BC and be a lawyer on Vancouver Island. Who knows. |

Actually, having read about the experiences of Jane and Melissa, and also the other comments/accounts posted on their site, as well as those written on this forum I am appalled that they/you could be treated like that. I cannot believe that Directors actually believe they can force you to stay. No one can do that!
I am NEVER going to go to Wonderland. EVER.
In fact, I am most definitely considering instructing adults now!
Thank you very much for all your advice.
