I'm still in the states, researching the ESL in Korea options and I wanted to ask a general question about Busan. I prefer big cities, good public transportation and warm climates and one of the draws of Korea for me would be Buddhist temples. Given that those are some of my priorities, how liveable is Busan?

Busan would probably be a great fit for you. The subway/bus systems are cheap and efficient, the weather is reasonably warm with little snow (though it can get cold and windy in winter) and there are lots of Buddhist temples in the south-eastern part of the country including a few nice ones in and around Busan.

As Cthulhu said above sounds like it would suit you very well.

The subway system in Busan is very good(just make sure you get near the subway) and the buses are great to if a little challanging to learn the routes at first.

The weather is close to the warmest in the country, but for me coming from Australia it is still frigging cold in winter. Snows at the most 5 times a year

Also within a easy day trip of Busan there are some fantastic temples.

Beomosa -that is on the northern edge of Busan with a fanststic Buddhas Birthday, went last year and it was awesome.

Tongdosa - the biggest temple in Korea in a very nice setting, about 45 minutes north.

All of Gyeongju - if you are really into Buddhism this place would be very appealing to you. Bulgoksa is the most famous temple in Korea.
