Tiffany's is overrated. I have a pair of earrings from tiffany... nice but i don't think they are that special.

Well, we found them.

We went to Jongno, after snooping around Bundang a bit. We ended up buying a ring that we didn't see anywhere else (saw tons of the same thing in different places). We had a lot of trouble finding a style that both of us wanted to actually wear. She likes white gold, and I like yellow. We got a "combi" ring that has both. She doesn't like anything traditional. She wants it to be a newer style. She wants a cubic or several small ones. I didn't want a cubic. We compromised and are both reasonably happy with what we got.

My gf looks and dresses Japanese, so a lot of the shop folk were surprised she spoke Korean. We wondered if they tried to hike the prices at some places, thinking we didn't know any better.

By the way, I'd like to say that the whole, "couple ring" thing is a huge joke created to sell a lot of crap rings.

And I almost fell over laughing when the ajosshi pulled out a microscope and tried to get us to pay extra for a higher grade of Cubic Zirconia!

Give me a break!

Glad you got one you both like. I like combi rings. In fact, my wedding ring is a combination of platinum and yellow gold. Designed and made by a friend in Hong Kong.

You should take a picture and show us!

Ok. I'm sure I'll get all kinds of "that's freakin' ugly" responses, but i'll post a photo.

Our sizes are on order at the moment. I'm a size 23, and she is a 10 or 11. They will be in next Saturday. We had to put 10% down. Honestly, a lot of the rings looked kind of cheap, and are probably made in China for a fraction of their selling price. Our ring has a name, of all things. I misunderstood what the Korean guy selling it said. I thought he said, "Dubu-san", but it's called, "Dobongsan" after that mountain near Uijeongbu, I think? It has a semi-unique shape, and apparently looks like the mountain.

After we found it, and actually found a ring we could both tolerate on each other, we shopped at 3 other stores, then returned to buy it. I kept teasing her, telling her, "We need to buy Dubu-san" ("Dubu is "Tofu" in Korean, and "san" is "mountain," for those who don't know).

So for however long this relationship lasts, we'll probably make jokes about Dubu-san.
