The US embassy warns American citizens to stay away from certain parts of the capital Seoul as a homegrown campaign urges foreigners to leave...

Demonstrations against foreigners are planned and an online petition to keep foreigners out of the Republic of Korea has already received thousands of signatures.
Many foreigners are worried, some have already left. And all this because of a website?

Way to go korea! You are #1!!!!11

Ever see one of those "Anti foreigner" guys?

I saw one handing out flyers outside COEX a while back. My wife told me "look, thats one of those anti foreigner people". I actually walked up to him and asked for a paper. As expected all he did was back away and was gone, walking away from me. And I was with a Korean woman, holding hands.

Really, all that stuff is old news anyway.

yeah damn foreigners, if it wasn't for them korea would be hub of asia already. Rolling Eyes

I don't mind if korea expels us foreigners, as long as they realise we won't be buying any more hyundais or samsung or LG Razz Let's see how the country functions without it's export dollars.

I suppose they would still have china, but it's only a matter of time before china has there own brands that are better than korean stuff

"Back home" usually finds them first and sends them to me.

What a nice little piece of crap.

It beats the SBS report hands down.

I bet that Purcell guy wrote it on his way home from Itaewon at 4AM. Laughing

The British flag flies next to the author's name, aptly. The tone of the article is a bit light, almost condescending.

That's a stretch! Laughing Economic logic at its most reductively absurd.

So, are you all packing your bags and leaving? Jesus, I would. Nothing worse in the world than ignorant, bored college students handing out fliers at the train station...
But I do happen to agree that foreigner influence is the only source of trouble in this otherwise perfect country. If it werent for those damn foreigners, Korea would definately have the largest economy in their own little world. And there would be no crime cause as Real Reality points out continually, crimes commited by foreigners rise significantly every year while I have never read any articles about the number of crimes commited by Koreans rising thus proving that Koreans do not usually commit crimes unless being influenced by some corrupt English teacher who will soon be head of Samsung, after which he will funnel all the money out of the country leaving those good hearted Koreans poor and kimchi-less. Stupid foreigners.

I read the current affairs story that was linked by the OP. It seems factual enough. Lemon, what specifically about this article lack integrity?

Conor is an occasional poster on here. I like his writing.
I don't think foreigners are living in fear here just yet though- although they do experience the odd bit of in-your-face prejudice, (and a lot more behind -your- back prejudice.)
But nothing serious now: we're hardly the last remaining jews in 1930's Berlin.
