Anyone else had the dubious pleasure of seeing this banner hanging at their university?

Not only is this getting out of hand...it's getting old....koreans looking for trouble.
But...reading the sign only underscores the need for English language instruction!!
Koreans can't even get a banner correctly written in English!!

It is saturday today but I am sorely tempted to phone them and tell them I'd give a reduced fee for privates... just for them. Wink

I'm willing to bet 100,000 Won that if the person who answers that phone has kids, they personally would hope to have a native teacher come to their home a couple times a week and help give their kids a competitive edge, and if you get them away from their office, they'd have no qualms bringing up 'how much won' and 'how often'?

'Do as I say, not as I do', is the secret anthem of this whole place.

It is all hilarious. If I am ever confronted, I wouldn't stop ROFL. Let them protest in the cold while we stay warm inside someplace having a coffee or something.

What I would like to know from the Western Cheonanites is is that if you (hypothetically speaking, of course!) are currently teaching or will in the very near future...will this deter you in any way?

If I lived in cheonan and I was a little drunk(like I am now) it wouldn't be ther by the morning.

Go and get some scissors and give it the chop

You're halfway there....

Tear it down..then, in the middle of Yawoori and Galleria (a mecca for gatherings...for all you non-Cheonanites)...burn it and dance around like an idiot (like the Koreans that burn others' <nations> flags).

Wonder if we'd be arrested.

My wife just told me that the first agency listed at the
bottom is the Cheonan Hagwon Owners Association!
The 2nd is the Board of Education and the 3rd is
immigration. So it seems like immigration is just
along for the ride. When they saw this they probably
thought: "Aw crap! More bloody paperwork!"

Personally, I think this is about money. The hogwon owners want the market for themselves and the law backs up their wishes. (This is Korea after all) I believe it has a lot more to do about privates than illegal teachers working in hogwons. Money is usually not too far below the surface when wondering why things happen.

Why is it written in English too?
To scare us or do they expect us to snitch on other teachers?
Good grief.
