I hoping someone who has been apartment hunting in Itaewon could give me some ideas of what is available for rent out there. I'm moving to Seoul soon and I'm looking for a studio apartment for around 500,000 Won a month with as low key money as possible. I don't need a lot of space, but I do need the place to be bright and clean... and a decent bathroom. Also, do apartments offer any appliances? Are my expectation too high or can I find something decent? Thanks

I live in the Itaewon area (nearer to Noksapyeong st) and I got a nice roomy two bedroom place for 380 a month, 2 million key money. good bathroom (even has a bathtub) and is nice and clean with a newly installed kitchen. I was leary, too, before I started looking, but I was shown about 5 places for under 550/month......all very nice.

For a half a million rent a month you should get quite a nice place in Itaewon (unless they gouge you for not having as much key money as they want), my place is 530,000/month in Apgujeon and its not huge, but its quite nice and real estate here is vastly more expensive here than in Itaewon.

The rule is to look at a LOT of places.

They show you the crap first.

I had a great spot, new construction, 14 pyung, two rooms (one bedroom separate from living/kitchen area), good sunlight, fourth floor/only one unit per floor place in Itaewon/haebanchon area. Key was 3 million/monthly 300,000. It can be done.

But, yeah, look at a ton. The first 10 I saw were dark, danky crap places currently inhabited by Russian prostitutes that stank of old, elicit sex.

Wow, "...stank of old, elicit sex."

And I thought my nose was sensitive! Laughing

You obviously haven't elicited enough illicit sex. Your bloodhound nose needs some more work.

Guess that should have been "illicit" but considering the line of work, "elicit" gets the point across as well. Very Happy
