Makele houses were normal. You would go into these lilttle shops and drink it out of wooden bowls. It was quite good but very deceiving as you never felt drunk until you stood up.

-When you had to scream your destination to taxi drivers from the corner, let the cabbie decide if he feels like taking you there, and then have him pick up and drop off 3 other people while en route to your destination. The possibility of getting stranded if you were out after midnight in the middle of winter and your home wasn't a popular destination with cabbies.

YEAH! Thats right! I never see that anymore!
That was a common occurrence.. and I always wondered how they figured what to charge each passenger (seemed like I usually was charged whatever was on the meter (regardless of all that stopping and hollering and dropping off along the way). |

Remember when the kids played "����" (like "jacks") a lot? Haven't seen that much the past few years. Saw a few yo-yos lately though.
(I haven't been so long enough but laughed when a buddy of mine told me he was in Taejon in 1988 or so and the locals were freaked out by a vending machine.. I believe he said they tipped it over, as it seemed evil  ) |
