My blog is so cool:

http://jejuprince.blogspot.com/

this story is from my rad new entry- anyhow how many of you ladies / men are poked by your students - not just the young ones but the old ones too... it is kind of funny in a friendly way, but I doubt they'd do it to a Korean teacher----

"...recently I have had some mildly strange but amusing incidents of belly poking. Let me make this very clear: the bemused victim of this poking is Me, The perpetrator of said poking was a rather silly stomach stabbing female student. Why did she poke me while I walked amongst the students' desks helping them I can not be sure... I asked her, "Hey why did you poke me?" She replied head down humbly , "Sorry sorry."- I repeated seriously hiding my smiling mind, "Why did you poke me in the belly?" her only reply was a submissive and contrite, "Sorry teacher." However, her friend in the desk beside offered the answer of, "Handsome, handsome." At any rate, I did mention to my fellow English teacher in the room, but the Korean teacher offered no explanation nor rebuke to the rather silly student ether. So in retrospect I think it was a friendly sort of light poke that was brought upon by my own magnanimity. And, therefore I suppose I should be flattered. After all I am in sooth...

The Jeju Prince..."

I had a bartender in Itaewon repeatedly try and stick her hand down my pants too. But that's probably different.

By the way, as for the poking thingy, if it gets to you, jus go to class with a T-shirt that says "Don't poke the teacher." I don't know if it'll work or backfire, but should be funny either way.

Also don't try poking back. I've had a couple Korean girls get irate when I poked them. They did it first of course, but there's that who Korean logic thingy...

The girlish squeal everyone makes.

As for the reaching into the pockets: I consider Jimmy to be a no-fly zone and any univited approaches will be dealt with in a very Soviet manner.

He can always borrow my Pillsbury doughboy shirt: "Poke me and die!" Laughing

I've never had students poke me, but I have had an ajumma and a halmoni grab my nutsack on the subway. Much to the amusement of the people standing around watching. Shocked

I had students do the pocket attack for candy and coins too- the coins was at a Hoggywon in the Mainland - the attack of the irate greedy candy grabbers was at school. Acutually the candy attack was like a riot the students tend to beg me after class for more chocolate and I get a bit mobbed. I never poked kid back mmm that might be a bit much, I am supposed to be dignified.

I am a reasonably portly individual, so my stomach has been the source of poking by many people over the years. In China it was even more pronounced than in Korea. Smile

Yeah, some HS girl did that to me in Migliorie or whatever in MyeongDong. Holiday shopping crowd, and I was just standing there minding my own business. That's also the day I saw the "Cuz it's YOUR DOG! Get it?" guy from road trip there. Wasn't he the cool guy actor too?
I couldn't reach him cause of the crowd. Frankly I wasn't inclined to try too hard.

Very, very careful about my middle school girls and contact of any sort. I don't have any with them or they with me. Too risky for a male, foreign teacher.

Having students dive into my pockets is not something that I encourage. I've had students poke my belly too. Usually the younger ones. I had middle school girl tell me that I have a nice bum.

Which undoubtedly made all her friends giggle, which is likely why she said it.

Toby, I think you're right on on this one.

Mmm I had girls say I am sexy, handsome, I love you, and marry me- and tug on my arm pant leg and hand. All unasked for contact, but the silly kids can not help it I am a kindly shiny coated overgrown stoat- Pooh and I are near twins. But, I do not advise to encourage such contact and silly compliments as you need to be like me and maintain a gentleman's dignified and noble decorum.

When the girl said I had a nice bum, I decided to give as little reaction as I could, cause I figured she wanted some kind of reaction. I even corrected her English on it. Her friends didn't giggle cause they were too busy yabbering away. This was the class where the girls asked my what viagra was. I told the them answer. its medicine for men with erectile difficulties. They had no idea what I said.
