(rubs hands together in gleeful fashion)

1. Until The End Of The World: Notoriously hard to find, flawed, but the best combination of my favourite elements in a film. Great soundtrack. Futuristic (for its time - filmed 1992 but set in 1999) and slightly dystopian (if possible?). Global in its setting and locations. Darkness and light. Black humour. Aborigines. Outback Australia. The Orient Express. Berlin. L.A. Solveig Dommartin. A celebration and lament of technology. The End of the World and not the end of the world. Exploring identity. Insomnia. Aaaaaand... Jeanne Moreau. I don't care how old she is. She sparkles, Sparkles.

Its a global road movie. Can't wait for the 400 minute director's cut.

2. The Big Lebowski: Coens + Goodman =

3. Mad Max: Grungy Australian cop film from 1979. The roar of the big V8s. What else?

4. Coffee & Cigarettes: Jim Jarmusch' latest (and earliest) offering. Loved it. Snapshots. Some don't work, but the ones that do are pisspants funny. Favourite scenes are Tom Waits meets Iggy Pop and the Delirium scene featured in the av, Gza, Rza and the man they call 'Billmurray'. This thread about it was a huge success.

5. The Tracker: David Gulpillil is a Ningkari.

There is supposed to be a director's cut? I'll be watching for it.

The soundtrack from that one is still one of my favorites. Elvis Costello's Days can still bring a tear to my eyes.

I almost forgot - the best thing Michael Winterbottom has ever done, In This World. Completely brilliant and really worth seeing.

"The Assignment"--if you want a movie that was more true to The Bourne Identity novel, this is the one to watch. Ordinary guy is trained to become a double of an international super-terrorist.

"Once Upon a Time in the West"--Sergio Leone OWNS the Western genre.

"The Usual Suspects"--The ending is kick-ass, but my favorite scene is when they attack the cops.

"Hard-Boiled" and "The Killer"--John Woo became the King of Action Movie Directors with these movies.

Too many favorites, I'll stop now.

Once Upon a Time in America.........DeNiro is so complex in this movie. James Woods is great too. I love the boyhood scenes. And the teacup scene. Best original soundtrack in movie history IMO.

I've owned the director's cut DVD for almost two years and still haven't been able to get around to watching it. I've procrastinated that, being a devoted father, I haven't had the time to watch a nearly-four-hour movie, but that's B.S.; I was able to watch the marathon that is ROTK Extended Edition the week I bought it.

It's probably because I've only ever seen the butchered version, the plot of which makes little or no sense. Have to get around to watching the masterpiece sooner or later -- though when I'm in the mood for epic Leone I invariably turn to 'The Good the Bad and the Ugly' or the sublime 'Once Upon a Time in the West'.

Deat Poet Society - Koreans really love this movie for some reason... I see it everywhere.

Expressing oneself creatively, especially in a classroom environment, is escapist fantasy on par with Star Wars for many Koreans.

cool thread! Cool

1- orson wells' othello (everybody loves a classic)

2- swept away on a hot august night (a rare fellini collaboration must see)

3- full meat jacket (kubrick at his best)

4- old school (hilarious will ferrell comedy!)

5- pink floyd in pompei (this 1 would had made #3 even #2 if the ugly schmucks in the band would had kept their shirts on!)

worst movie i've watched,

venus, the goddess of love an ABC made for tv movie starring vana white as venus the goddess of love. nuff said!

This movie was great at the beginning, but I think it kind of fell apart at the end. Still funny as hell though...
