Lipsticks named after Korean pop singer Lee Hyolee will be launched in 67 countries starting next month. "Since Korea is the leader in the Asian cosmetics market and the product succeeded here, head office agreed to our proposal." Lee Hyolee will be introduced as a Korean star in marketing materials worldwide, the company added.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
They don't count Japan a part of Asia?! I would choose Japanese products over Korean ones anytime. |

My girlfriend is one of the marketing managers for the largest Japanese cosmetics company (and perhaps the largest in Asia) that might have some more facts about that. I'm not entirely sure how big her company, Shisedo, compares to Korean companies.
I will ask her when she returns from business in Japan tonight.
I wonder how sales are going after the whole Dokdo thing. She might have to delay some product launches, although that's just a guess. |

What a laugh and a half....they think if they spread this propaganda, people will actually believe it....
I bet no one outside of Korea even knows who HyoLee is...
I would never buy Korean makeup.... |

Isn't Biotherm a FRENCH company? A sub branch of Loreal? |

I'm sorry but Japanese makeup rules over Korean makeup any day. Shiseido, Shu Uemura, RMK... all Japanese makeup companies well known in the States. I can't ever recall seeing a Korean makeup counter in a department store in the U.S... what a JOKE. |

Some misunderstanding here. They said Korea being the leading MARKET in Asia. What this statement has to do with Shiseido's products being superior? And again Biotherm is a French company! People please cool down. |

According to my girlfriend, Shisedo is the #1 company in the Asian market. It's #4 or #5 (I forget which) world-wide.
Basically, the article is claiming that Korean women slap more crap on their face than any other asian country. I have to agree with that.
Hardly much of a claim to fame, but hey -- I like girls with lots of grease, paint, and dead baby cells caked on their faces. I love it when my gf wears it, although she dislikes it. She looks great without it, and is a knock-out (to me, anyway -- maybe not you) when she wears it. But hey, she doesn't have to wear it if she doesn't want. I do appreciate it when she does (if we're going somewhere nice).
But personally, I am not a fan of the way korean girls put it on. I like the Western style much better, which makes many Gyopo girls easy to pick out of a crowd. Unfortunately, a Korean girl with Western-style makeup often is labeled as either cocky, non-comformist, or worse -- a *beep*. It's a shame. Women should be free to paint as they like. |
