Ghost Dog; Way of the Samurai - Possibly the mellowest gangster movie ever. Leon/The professional is the only thing that comes close.

Old Boy - Possibly the best Korean movie I've ever seen. Real head trip too. Anyone gives spoilers I'll flame yer posts ferever damn your eyes.

Amores Perros - Sort of a Tarantinoesque plotline, or rather weaving together of three plotlines, mexican.

Spirited Away - Excellent Anime

Lilo and Stich - The only disney cartoon that really struck a chord with me.

Anyone seen the new Bill Murray flick, 'Life at Sea' or something? Reviews all over the TV tonight and people are raving about it.

ed. "The Life Aquatic"

you mean you've never seen "Showgirls"? That is THE WORST movie ever made. I felt like I needed to take a shower after seeing that flick

seen it, brother, but my attention was way too focused on the big, jugglely knockers on most of the hot babes in the movie to notice whether it was good or bad. come to think of it, any flick starring hot babes with quality knockers can't be all bad.

anyhoot, whenever i see a movie going downhill, i kill the volume and throw on some tangerine dream tunes to take the edge off. makes the cinematography much more easier to take. Cool

I watched 'The Life Aquatic with Steve Zahn'.....I thought it was great, but I have had many people say to me that they didn't like it.

I put it to you this way...it was a hell of a lot better than Rushmore, but not as good as Lost in Translation.

I would pay to see it at the cinema, but would not buy the dvd.

Cheers, Chewie. You speak my language. If the few like it, and the many don't, there's a good chance it has some quality to it. Seeing it next week.

Hajima ajuma!!! No offence, but all those movies sucked. I got dragged to My Big Fat Greek Wedding and Shrek by ex girlfriends and shiver at the thought...

whatthefunk: But you're a guy!! That's why I said what I did about the "girl movies" thread. Sometimes women want to see "feel-good" movies, and somehow the "action hero wins in the end" doesn't quite do it!

"Elephant" was so boring I checked to see if it was one of Clint Eastwood's recent efforts.

Delicatessen, French flick by Jeunet and Caro
Drowning by Numbers
and
The Cook, the Thief, His Wife, and Her Lover by Peter Greenaway
Marathon, a Korean movie about a guy with autism and an obsessed mother
The Closet, a French flick about a guy who pretends to be gay to avoid being fired (among other things)
Rubin and Ed, kinda have to be really high or dosed to appreciate the wierdness...either that or a really big Crispin Glover fan
Zatoichi, the orginal Japanese series (not the movie remake) is badass...like old Clint Eastwood movies...before his talent up and died
Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, with John Depp
Arahan, Korean martial arts movie
Kung Fu Hustle
Welcome to the Dollhouse and Storytelling by Todd Solondz
The Ice Storm
The Icicle Thief and Pinocchio, starring Roberto Benini

8-Dazed and Confused.
9&10-For the romantic: Before Sunset, Before Sunrise

Bottle Rocket I'm surprised no one's mentioned this gem yet. Wes Anderson's first movie, afaik.

Flash Gordon Campy sci-fi with one of the greatest movie villains of all time and a kick ass Queen sountrack.

Fist of Legend Jet Li kicking a whole lot of Japanese ass in this one. His best 'realistic' movie, imo.

Well, that's all I can think of in my current sleep-deprived state.
