One of my old college friends is thinking of coming over to Korea and he's got early onset arthritis (at 22 ) pretty bad and he's asked me to find info about perscription drugs in Korea. Since I don't know anybody on them ATM and I don't even have insurance personally, I thought I'd ask here.
Can you find all the perscription drugs here that are availabe in America? How are the prices?
thanks! |

| Prices here are generally much cheaper than at home, but I wouldn't know what's available. Might be wise to contact someoen at the drug company to ask. |

I have a friend who's already had quite a few joints replaced with Teflon due to rheumatoid arthritis. It hit him like a ton of bricks at 27. It's a very crappy disease.
You could try calling the Seoul National University hospital clinic for foreigners and see about rheumatologists/rheumatology here, including the steroids/medications that are often prescribed for arthritis. They're an excellent teaching/research hospital and medical facility. I bet they could give you an answer to your question pretty quickly.

A lot of name brand prescription drugs may have local/Korean brand names. I agree with others that most Rx drugs are cheaper (sometimes a LOT cheaper) here.
OTC drugs though - such as ibuprofen, aspririn, etc - are much cheaper in the States. When I go back - I usually buy the giant bottles of 500 or a 1000.
Personally, I think this is a tough climate for arthritis - but then I understand that - at 22 - this guy probably needs to sock away a few bucks before he heads down to SE Asia and warmer weather. |
