|
|
| Hey! I am finishing up a year at my hakwon (April 15) and plan to take a trip to China and return to Korea. I haven't found a job yet. I have an E2. If I return without a job and an E2 visa, how long can I stay here with the intent to find another job? What should I say to immigration at the airport when they see I will stay in Korea? Can I just say I will be here on a tourist visa? |

Your question doesnt make sense. No job = no E2.
I presume you'll get a tourist visa on reentry. Thats how long you'll have to find a job. |

| Ok. Let me rephrase. How long is the tourist visa for an American? I intend to look for a job during that time. Thanks. |

| It's either 2 weeks or a month.. can't remember. I know you can extend it, but not sure if that meant to extend from 2 weeks to one month, or what. It's been so long. It's not a lot of time. |

| A tourist visa is 90 days. To enter the country, you will need a ticket leaving the country. |

| You can get 30 days on entry without having a visa stamped in your passport. Or you can apply for a C-3 (basically the same process as an E-2, without the blue paper) at the Korean embassy of your choice. Basically, neither of these can be extended. (Ok, maybe they CAN be extended, but they AREN'T.) |

Americans can get a 30 day tourist visa at the airport when they arrive in Korea.
Americans can also get a 90 day tourist visa by applying to a Korean consulate in their home country, America. You have to provide some paperwork, like a copy of your airplane\ferry tickets and itinerary, I believe. |
