Ok, as you all may know, I work at an all-girls high school.

Do you guys ever encounter a class that just smells bad?

After Gym class, some of my girls come in smelling rank. Sometimes, in the winter, I walk into a 3rd grade class where they've been studying all day with the windows closed, and it's just gross.

I always make a point to says, "WHEW, we need some air in here!" and open the window.

Some students apologize, "Sorry teacher!"

One time I was asking questions about school uniforms. How much do they cost? How many do you own? Etc...

I told them I has assumed they all wore one for the entire week, and washed it on Sundays. That got some "Eeeewww" comments, but sometimes I swear it's true.

I think anyone would smell that bad in too confined a space for too long. Don't the shower after gym class? The grown-ups at my gym are sure thorough scrubbers in the showers.

On Friday I was trying to defrock one boy who had taken another boy's wallet and stuck it up his jacket sleve. Unfortunatley it would seem that some kids are more regular bathers than others.

I told my middleschool girls last year I'd be moving to a boys school, what did they think? Boys are noisy, dirty, & smell bad!

Why do you want boyfriends then? No response.

Yeh true, girls can work up a pretty good funk after PE class.

I teach boys. Boys smell. I wish my school would install showers. Nothing worse than teaching a class after they have gym as you usually walk in and find your students in various stages of undress.

Students smell bad, period. All those changes going on... A few weeks ago I had to visit (an American) middle school...upon opening the main doors I was levelled by pre-teen stench....and it was a Saturday when no students were about!

As for smelly students...well, there is this one Turkish girl (mid-twenties) who just reeks of arse. We're not sure what she smells of (and no, it is not a Turkish thing...we've many Turks at our school), but I'd wager it's an armpit thingy.

It's so bad that when she leaves a classroom, many of the students (for the following class) will wait a few minutes for her 'smell' to dissipate before they enter the classroom. Shocked

I'm tempted to make a lesson using that scene in Big Daddy when Adam Sandler is at his "kid's" school and he realizes that his kid has become the 'smelly kid.' Not sure how to surreptitiously slip that into a lesson....without causing a stir.

I surely don't have the nads to confront her of her smell.

Which brings me to another memory...i recall in high school our biology teacher had rancid breathe (clinical problem, and she acknowledged it and was trying to overcome it somehow)...well, sure enough, some mean-spirited putz slipped a bottle of Scope in her desk drawer. Embarassed

Oh well.

Oh, that's disgusting... why do so many middle eastern people have that odor? Is it the food?

Can't be as the other Turkish girls don't reek, and the girl in question has been Stateside for several months now...and eats 'American' food.

At least it isn't one of the other teachers. Shocked

I was once given the unfortunate task of informing another teacher of his overpowering odor. Confused
It really wasn't normal BO. It was this weird kind or sour stench. Kind of like a mixture of vinegar, perfume and urine. Mad

The guy was in his 60's, and a real gentleman in other respects. It was one of the most difficult things I've ever had to do. Shocked

The worst thing for me was that he was also my roomate. Mad
